Problem With Peers
« on: February 26, 2010, 03:39:38 PM »
Hi...Ever since i joined you while you were boxtorrents i was dling and seeding just fine. The moment you switched to baka bt i haven't been able to connect to any peers in order to upload although the downloading still works super fine.I searched in the forums and read the Wiki and faq but no luck.I use utorrent2.0 which i just checked and is in your whitelist.I read a topic in which a user had a problem because the torrent he had downloaded didn't have enough peers in order for him to get a good uploading speed.I tried that and downloaded torrent with 114 peers but still the same.Right Now i'm seeding the torrent with 114 peers with 10kb/s(9 peers connected).I'd really appreciate it if you helped me

your torrents seem to be working fine, so where exactly is your problem?

you don't need to find a torrent with as many peers as possible but with as many leechers as possible.
imagine 100 seeders trying to upload to 10 leechers. with some of the seeds having a better upspeed than the leechs downspeed there is obviously not enough for every seed to saturate his bandwidth with one torrent.

obviously you have, as it's a list of all torrents on bakabt, doesn't say anything about the seed/leecher ratio :E

edit: If you check the seeder/leecher ration on the torrents you seed, you'll notice it's exactly what blubart was talking about.

a quick reminder: utorrent uses the term Peers for displaying leecher count. Since you use uTorrent 2.0, I believe this is what you mean by Peers.

More information is required,

- what is your connection bandwidth for down and up
- are you still having the problem even when you are seeding/leeching ONLY BakaBT torrents
- since we all have limited upload speeds, are there other computers you are sharing your connection with (speed test helps)
- did you try changing your utorrent configuration
- a screenshot of the speed chart of utorrent with a resolution of 30seconds would be quite helpful

at the moment my bandwidth settings are unlimited in both dling and uploading. In the pic below you'll see the speed chart. At first it was doing fine with one torrent(having reached 90kb/s).But suddenly you'll see near the end it drops at 5kb/s(which is my current my speed right now) and it doesn't go above 7kb/s :(.I don't have any specific configuration for my client and i also don't know what to change in my configuration :P.and yes i forgot to mention this only happens with bakabt torrents.I can seed perfectly fine the torrents from other sites.Do you have a recommended speed test site?

Use the µTorrent set-up guide ( I think that's what it's called in English, mine's in Danish) and run it. Tell us what it says, maybe provide a screen? Perhaps try some other client to see the effect?

In my opinion, the speed chart was quite helpful.

AFAIK, the tracker software can not cause a sudden drop in upload speed, as a result, I can not comment on how you are having problems with BakaBT tracker only.

Takeshi's advice can help you configure your bandwidth, or you can use Speedtest.net (which most of us use i guess) to gauge your internet speed. I suggest that you test your connection while the upload is trailing low and select a server outside Greece (like France or Germany) for proper measuring.

If the result does not indicate a problem (matches with your subscription) then a sudden drop in upload speed while you are fully using your upload bandwidth might be the result of the following

- your connection is throttled, you can use the encryption feature of utorrent > Preferences > BitTorrent > Protocol Encryption
- utorrent still has bugs, just set a upload cap below %10 of your original upload capacity (70 kb/sec)

Also there are members with more experience on utorrent, so you can wait for an answer from them.

good luck

You're not seeding anything atm, so I can't say how many torrents you've been seeding, but it's not unusual to see speeds like that for somewhere on the range of 5-15 torrents.  The spike you had at the beginning was most likely just one peer who decided to download solely or mostly from you for a bit.

'Peers' doesn't tell us anything. Tell us the exact number of leechers, for crying out loud.

Those torrents do have leechers (65/35,  540/48)... Try if any of this helps.

Which port did you choose, try picking one above 40 000

Try pausing any other torrents you might have to see if it has any effect

Try restarting your router if you haven't

Urm... There might be a bit of terminology translation issue here.

If you are running BitTorrent (and uTorrent, most likely), the 'Peers' column indicates the number of leechers, while the 'Seeds' column indicates the number of seeders that have full completed copies of the files being shared.  The column headings are not technically correct because the total number of peers is the total sum of leechers and seeders.

Other than that, I could re-state what's been mentioned repeatedly in this thread.  Having lots of leechers for a torrent isn't enough to guarantee that you will be seeding much.  The seed-to-leech ratio is more important.  If it's high, you're less likely to see much seeding action.

<edit>Oop... Enginarc already mentioned all of the above previously.  I apologize.

<edit>Another thought, though.  How recent are your BakaBT .torrent files for the torrents you are attempting to seed?

Am seeding Naruto and Seitokai no Ichizon aswell....Ichizon clearly has over 200MB/s worth of upload bandwidth been pumped into it, far more then the downloaders can offer...Naruto also has vasts amounts of upload bandwidth aswell, and partial seeders...both of them are just saturated to fuck.

edit, am getting 19KB/s on Ichizon, and 210KB/s on Naruto at this very second in time, with 200Mbit of bandwidth available to me...(10.7MB/s over all torrents am seeding atmo), so yea...his speeds on them seem right...

Bring out your calculator, 486 divided by 40, equals to 12.15.
That is tough competition, and from your downloads history, I'm pretty sure you're not very keen at seeding.
You love hitting and running don't you?
Sit around and keep seeding, that's the only way you're getting out of this, it's all about patience.
