Don't judge a TV based on it's brightness in the store.  They set the brightness way too high to try to stand out over the fluorescent lighting and all the other TVs.

Has anyone heard about how sometimes they adjust contract/brightness in older models to make them "seem similar" to newer models and either upsell certain attributes of sell an older model more frequently to increase profits? They sometimes do this against comparable brands... but generally brands will do this themselves normally as "default" settings to have more "difference" to other brands when compared to "push the sell". I think Aquos does this the most, but I'm not an expert in this topic. I think it was mentioned in the other TV threads.
They will also do it to models that they want to sell lots of. So you will sometimes just see one model of a of a tv GLARING way brighter

Is what I use on my desktop.

It doesn't go up to 1080p like you asked but its still a fantastic monitor. A good Dynex 32" screen, pretty much any kind of connector you could want, I have my PS2 and Dreamcast hooked up to it plus my desktop, no dead pixels good warranty. Remote is easy to figure out and not heavy at all. I liked this TV so much I got a second one.
The question is have we already reached the limit of perfection?

I swear i think I've picked out the one I want. I hear the speakers are crap because of it being so slim, but I got some sick headphones so it'll be fine. Yeah right now it's like £550-£700. I'm not gona buy my t.v right now maybe next month. Should be able to find a good deal.

Sounds really value for money.

on most flat screen tvs people complain the speakers are garbage. Because unlike tube tvs they dont have any room to put in real speakers that project a OK sound for a tv speaker

Agreed. Spend the 100 bucks or w/e it is to get a decent set of speakers. Not to mention (Not sure if it's still the case) the speakers on the TV used to have sound vibrations that could fuck up the components of the TV over time. Don't know if this is still the case.

Dont think it matter much if youre tv is 100, 120 or 200Hz. If you take a look at what the tv actualy can display then you find that its just some "picture smoothing" technology.

Look at this 120hz Samsung LN55B650 55" 1080p LCD HDTV
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/tv-video/televisions/lcd-tv/LN55B650T1FUZA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=spec

Now look at what it can actualy display.

I made the 120Hz comment based on the fact OP wants "futureness" on his TV.
