I can browse multiplayer servers just fine.

This was last night, have yet to try today. There was a side scroll of text on the main screen saying something to the effect " we are aware of connection issues, and are working on a fix"

I've tried checking around for people with similar issues, but not seeing anything... definitely not a good sign. Hopefully i don't have to open any ports especially for this game.

AceHigh:
Maps are like 1/3 of BF2 and instead of 64, it is now 32 players, conclusion: piece of shit.

There are still a lot of players on BF2 servers, so I will continue playing there I guess.

I dislike the lack of prone most of all thus far. I mostly played bf 2142 on no vehicle servers / city maps, so the map size isn't really an issue for me.

I'd agree that not having prone seems sort of pointless, however I suppose it encourages a different type of game play. I found in BF2 and 2142 people used to run around like maniacs with sniper rifles and just drop to prone and shoot you from 10 feet away.

Finally able to play multiplayer, after uninstalling/reinstalling.... I'd have to agree the lack of 64 player servers is a pretty big downfall, but it's still better than 18.

I bought BFBC2 because I had never bought any of the other BF games; I borrowed them after my friends were done playing with them. I also didn't have a good game with vehicle combat in it that was recent (the last one I had was UT 2K4, great game btw :D) so I decided to pick it up.
There isn't anything too ground breaking except that buildings break and sniping really long distances take more skill than I'm used to since the bullet drops. That and taking out a fast moving helicopter with a guided missile is a pain.
As for the reduction of the amount of players I would have liked 32v32. However, I find that the action and map size scales very well to 32 people. I remember in 2142 I would spend loads of time just traveling to points. Thank goodness for the squad beacons - -.
