Ok Stupid comcast called my mom to give a "curtousy" call. They claimed that I downloaded 750mb of bandwidth... How the fuck do they come up with these numbers? I usually download more than that in a single download. I upload more than that in upstream too so where the hell are they coming up with this number. They are threatening turning off my connection for a year. There really isn't any other decent isp out here. Any ideas what I can do to get around this? I don't wanna stop downloading anime or seeding what I get. Any ideas?

you sure your mom didnt mess up and they said 750 gigs
since their monthly limit is 250 gigs

Must be 250 gigs because I have never had a problem before. 250 megs just didn't make since as watching a few videos on youtube could easily take you over. I was thinking they might have meant gigs but wasn't sure. I should be fine. I'll just have to keep an eye on what I downloading for awhile until I am taken off the watch list. Does the bandwidth limit include the upstream or just the down stream?

includes download and upload. Google bandwith tracking programs so you can keep track of your bandwith usage from month to month it will save your ass

Will do thanks for the info.. Guess I'll have to watch what I am doing this month since I already did a bunch the first couple days this month. Just have to under shoot it for the month.

I think skype rings up about 2-3GB every 3-5 hours. Demos range from 500-2.5GB on PS3, I think same on xbox360.

Skype should only use about 3/4kB/s. 6 at most if you're only doing voice calls.

Weird... though I haven't used skype to that degree in a long time. Maybe they optimized it. But at the same time, we also used to host video conferences a lot too.

Go business, pay 10-20 dollars extra and well .. the downside is having a contract for 2 years (possibly).

If you're seeding 24/7, you can easily pass the 250GB limit. I seed 24/7, and I've easily passed several TB of data for a single month. If you want to use Comcrap, your only option is to torrent less or bend over and purchase a business connection.

If I ever lived in an area where my only option was Comcast, I'd get a business line from day one. I average 250GB every week, much less every MONTH. Luckily I live in an area that gets Charter, and gets it rock solid with great speeds all the time. No caps, no throttling, the only downside being the upload speeds aren't amazing. Bonded connections will fix that with time.

But seriously, fuck comcast. They're inconsistent as hell too. People talk about going over every month and never hearing a word, while others download 251 and get a bitch fit thrown at them.

unfortunately some people cant afford an extra 20-30 dollars a month for a business line sometimes more if your currently using a phone/tv/internet get up

its not myself but many people arent adults and live with their parents who dont use the internet much.

And do watch tv, the option of spending 20-30+$ a month extra for something they seemingly wont use is something many people will say no to.

I use netlimiter to keep track on my internet and I use 220 to 240 gigs a month..I have went over 250 gigs before but got no call

Don't you have a business line @ 50/10? They don't cap business lines...
