I am considering Chrome from Google at the moment. My friend said I should try it out now. My question falls on their privacy statement - do they keep track of what you do without your notice? Like, using Google pretty much save history there and they can pull it out anytime. I'm just a little confused on that part and I'd like to be corrected. Thanks.

Yay for necro. =P

Even if they do, what the heck are they gonna do with every one of their users' browsing history? Seriously? That's a lot of wasted disk space IMO.

If it really is sent to Google, I would expect that they modify the data in such a way that it's actually useful; for instance, for indexing purposes.

I'd rather have Google keeping my history than my ISP.

Used google chrome because firefox was bloated, switched back to firefox when they updated their html code and supported .APNG
Did you know Satan was supposedly gods RIGHT HAND MAN, not his left. Blows your theory out of the water now doesn't it.

From my understanding they do, but its used so as to better target ads. A lot of ad companies do it; they take a look at your browsing history and process it through some sort of algorithm to try to tailor ads that better suit you. But it isn't particularly good at it.

I pretty much skipped FF. I used to run an old version of Opera for years - V4 or V5 or something - finding the newer ones more resource intensive for pretty much no benefit. I tried FF once but found it tended to bloat like crazy after an hour or so, a problem admittedly still prevalent in the version of Opera I was using only far worse. I made the switch to Chrome back when it was in beta when I was playing a browser based online game where refresh speed is important, finding it took about half the time to load a page, and I've been using it since. It's never bloated on me, rarely hangs up and has maybe crashed half a dozen times since I started using it. It depends what you're after. It consumes more RAM and doesn't have the same amount of extensions support but in terms of stability, I don't think theres better imo (though I have heard FF has done a lot of work to fixing their memory leaks so has improved vastly, so if you're already used to FF I don't think there would be much in it beyond simply getting used to a new interface).

Oh, and Chromes superbar <3 How did I live without this baby...

Am I able to transfer my bookmarks to Chrome?

Nevermind, I got it. It asks you when you install. How do I import the windows I have open in Firefox?! I have a lot.

Edit -- I also want to have tabs with rows, like one row with tabs and the next row to have more tabs and so on and forth.

I doubt you can import tabs. Let me know if you ever find a way, though. Along with the multi-row tabbing. That would be awesome.

Firefox has an add-on for multi-row tabbing, but the name escapes me atm. Chrome might have a similar one.

opera has multi row tabs by default (and by default, i mean it's already in opera without any addons). it also has the "superbar", if by superbar you mean "g cock" to search for "cock" in google.

and i don't think chrome is capable of that, even with addons. did a bit of googling and it's a helluva high-demand feature.
but people who answer seem to either not know which addon can do it or claim it's impossible.

Yah, I didn't know the new Opera had it but I heard FF had implemented it after it became popular with Chrome. It's one of those "we got there first" things; I'm not gonna switch back because a rival browser implemented an idea someone else had. They need to come up with something new for my interests to be piqued.

Okay, waiting patiently. Multi-row tabbing is very important to me. I like Chrome's performance speed.

It's the reason I use opera, one of them at least.

What the hell? Do you understand how outdated and absolutely horrible, both security-wise and speed-wise, any IE before version 9 is?

Tell you what. The Acid3 test is a widely accepted testing tool to see how well browsers conform to worldwide standards. Try it here. At the time of its creation, it was designed such that every browser in existence failed the test. Even now, only a small number of browsers pass the test with 100%.

How do you bookmark a page? lol. Wow, why is Chrome so fucking hard to use? It's super fast, but lacks options. Even the options to the right side (wrench icon) doesn't have something that says BOOKMARK THIS PAGE or something. You can't even drag and drop properly ...

Nevermind, the star icon. Haha.

Anyone found any addon with row tabs yet?

Alright you're not the only one with this question but this should make it a bit easier to understand.

http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/privacy.html

That not only tells you exactly (down to the normal user understanding anyway) what info the browser takes and why.  Also, how to turn off Any/ALL of those features.

Basically they use the info for two major reasons, making the Google search engine better, by having a larger data pool to look at for web browsing history (Many low level or beginning sites will pad the numbers to be ranked higher by Google...), and the other is the Ad info talked about earlier.  All of those can be stopped/turned off without much hassle, so the fuss is actually really funny.

Chrome's my main browser, love the thing.  It's fast, sleek, and the interface is VERY well made.  Security is top notch too.  Only "known" hack is by a company that "won't release the details of the hack." lol  (BTW if that concerns anyone, it's due to a Microsoft error and not actually Chrome, making the statement even funnier.)  Oh and the same Adblocker used on FF is being produced for Chrome, just a bit tougher to find.  Don't really see a reason not to use it!
Huh?

Acid3 is a bullshit test. It is better than html5test though.
