Final Fantasy 13, the day has finally come
Natheria:
I have no idea what your guys were talking about before. This game is awesome! I got it Thursday night and just got around to playing it today and I'm already 9+ hours in.
You stop having to button mash shortly after the first area as the paradigm system starts to get really engrossing (so far I'm actually not displeased with the learning curve, it could be a little faster but I've felt like that with every final fantasy game). I also fail to see how this is any more linear than just about any other final fantasy save for FF12 (and 12 doesn't even count). I think some of you guys got way too used to 12's single player MMO system.

I think all the hardcore ff fans are hating it because creators have gone and removed all the annoying(subjective) FF features to make it more fun(transition into/out battles is faster, less monotonousness battles, faster paced battles, simpler stats/gear/leveling, less minigames, less pointless paths, no town, less grinding, less sidequests.) almost to the point its not a final fantasy.... Almost. Some poeple may like these features of final fantasy but realy if you want those go play a previous FF. There is no doupt its a GREAT game and I'm enjoying it thoroughly, its just different to regular FF.

What the fuck?! In just about any RPG, not just Final Fantasies, minigames and side quests are where the real game play is. Epic feeling battles are rarely a bad thing, and towns are where things happen.

RPGs must really suck.

But the Final Fantasy series has never really been an RPG line, not in a true sense. Far better for it to have well designed linearity than to attempt to poorly ape something that it is not.
On a side note: totally just ordered an FF1 Black Mage costume. Gonna wear it to Akiba after I get it and we get back to home port.
