Assasins Creed 2 - don't buy it - if you bought it, return it

(1/10) > >>

Jarudin:
Not only did I buy the game, I pre-ordered it (for PC).

* Worst mistake ever *

Ubisoft added DRM that requires you to be online at all times, even worse, you need to log in on their servers before you can even start the game.
I don't mind having to be online at all times. But I do mind that I can't play the game right now because Ubisoft's servers are unreachable - supposedly because of 'hackers'.

Some people even claim they've lost save games - save games are stored on Ubi's servers by default, you can turn it off but they did a good job hiding that feature.

Half the time I can't connect to the login server, and when it does it reports 'Incorrect username or password'.
I'm guessing they just flushed the user table so they have time to figure out why the servers crashed.

Even if you're not a pirate, don't buy this game. You wont be able to play the legit version.

Wow, Jarudin.

You're the last person I would think of who overlooked these things on the internet O_o

I already had the Black Edition pre-ordered but cancelled as soon as I heard of being permanently online for a single player game.

lol, wait... the server is down again? It was down yesterday for already 10 hours!

If that is already the second downtime then the DRM won't last very long and Ubisoft will be the laughingstock of the century.

I knew about the DRM, but I thought: "they can't possibly fail this hard, can they?"

Well .. guess they can.

DaggerLite:
I smirked when I saw the news this morning.

As most people, I despise DRM and copyright warnings being distributed to paying users, but apparently it reduces the number of counterfeit copies in the system. Not sure how much they earn on it, but the notorious pirates (and hackers) are always victorious. I'll accept SecuROM and the likes of it grudgingly, but I will NEVER -EVER- support this new Ubisoft DRM. I don't like pirating games, so I'll just stay away from them for now. They don't deserve to be in the industry, despicable money grabbing scum.

lol, it's really the second downtime now.
