Cowboy Bebop

(1/7) > >>

Micharus:
Just finished watching the series "Cowboy Bebop".

While I was little disappointed with the ending, at least we know that it *has* ended and there isn't likely to be another season of it.

It took me a little while to get into it, but eventually I got hooked on the music and the storyline that seems to weave it's way through the episodes.

In fact there seemed to be at least two stories that ran side by side through the series, now that I think of it.

Nice artwork in general and with the ships specifically.

Normally the hero's ship is *always* super shiny sparkly and never ever takes any sort of damage..... not here!

All of the ships that appear in the series on a regular basis, tend to looked a little 'used' all of the time. I like that in this series.

The character are fleshed out nicely as the series moves on, with new 'main' characters being added in the first few episodes and a little further into the series.

The 'rapid transit' system they use is very similar to the 'trade lanes' and 'gates' they use in the old game "Freelancer".

Yeh, love it :) The fact that everything's a bit rusty makes it appealing to me also. The action's nicely choreographed, the artwork's excellent, lotsa humour and witty dialog.

The ending is very fitting.

If you liked Bebop, be sure to check out Samurai Champloo and Black Lagoon as both of these are similar in some respects.

Funny you should mention those...

I actually watched Black Lagoon (both seasons) and Samurai Champloo (in that order) before I watched Cowboy Bebop.

I see that there a couple of Cowboy Bebop movies, are they actually worth watching or are they just a re-hash of the series?

Takeshi:
The movie is definitely worth it, in my opinion. More of the stuff you seemed to like.

I personally didn't like Cowboy Bebop that much, maybe I should try watching with the Japanese track and not transcoded .rmvb files this time. For some reason it didn't appeal much to me much. Then again I was quite young back then (15-16 years old) so it could be different this time around (21 years).

Man I've watched the shit outta that series ^^

I'm an action buff though and CB certainly provides on that end. Also the scenario of interstellar bounty hunter is mighty appealing ;) Don't understand how any 15-16 y/o male could NOT like it xD

As for the movie, it's excellent and well worth watching. Imagine an extended CB episode in HD. The artwork and animation are awesome, plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat and all the stylishness that makes CB great.

One point I forgot to mention is the Soundtrack. Aside from Claymore, CB easily has the best soundtrack in my books :)
