No, I'm totally serious. The title Bebop implies a certain form of Jazz and that's what I thought the OST was suppose to be based off of, but ti turned out to be mostly mood jazz, techno, and pop. Though that one track from the movie was good, especially since it was from Hancock's group.

You seriously expected a japanese series to use a genre of music that ran out of fashion more than 40 years before it was created ?

Not everything has to be taken literally.

I thought Cowboy Bebop was ok,nothing special. For some of its cooler
aspects,it had lots of flaws.I hated a lot of the characters and aspects of
the show like why is everyone is every anime hungry?Man those asians need to
eat more often.I didnt really get into the music.

Maybe it was overhyped?
I think i would have dug it a lot more had it been one of the first animes i saw
if that makes any sense.

Yea i dont wanna call it bad or anything just i didnt get into it nearly as much as
most other people.I would take Black Lagoon over this anyday.
BL had better action, cooler characters, better character devolopment and overall
a killer attitiude.

The title has the word Bebop in it and the OP has so many references to jazz clubs and bebop culture, so yes I did expect to use that genre of music. I don't mean to put the series, I love Bebop as much as the rest of you. I was just a little let down by the soundtrack, the jazz numbers could have been better too.

I think that Cowboy bebop shares one thing with jazz: it's not for everyone. You either "feel" it and let yourself be taken by its flow (a nice, lazy flow), or it's just a bunch of random notes thrown together without much sense. So, I would dare saying that the anime itself is a kind of jazz piece.

Note: this is not an insult to anyone. For me, jazz is a kind of music that yu have to feel, and you have to be in a mood for it to enjoy it to its fullest. Personally, I'm not really a jazz person, and I usually find it tiresome and just too random.
That said, I enjoyed CB a lot and it is one of my favourite anime.

The movie is also great, but more in terms of a well-done action flick with a bit of the CB spice. Also, it stands pretty well on its own IMHO, which is pretty rare.

Just finished watching the series "Cowboy Bebop".

While I was little disappointed with the ending, at least we know that it *has* ended and there isn't likely to be another season of it.

It took me a little while to get into it, but eventually I got hooked on the music and the storyline that seems to weave it's way through the episodes.

In fact there seemed to be at least two stories that ran side by side through the series, now that I think of it.

Nice artwork in general and with the ships specifically.

Normally the hero's ship is *always* super shiny sparkly and never ever takes any sort of damage..... not here!

All of the ships that appear in the series on a regular basis, tend to looked a little 'used' all of the time. I like that in this series.

The character are fleshed out nicely as the series moves on, with new 'main' characters being added in the first few episodes and a little further into the series.

The 'rapid transit' system they use is very similar to the 'trade lanes' and 'gates' they use in the old game "Freelancer".

Really? I thought it was one of the worst Anime's I ever watched. It was quite dull to me and hard to keep watching. It did not even leave much of a lasting impression. I think people should watch newer and fresher series before crowning a dated series like this. There is so much out there now.

I'd be curious what you thought was so bad and dull. And then see some examples of what you think is good and interesting. Indeed, you're part of a very tiny minority.

Personally, this is what I think of as a junk opinion. The justifications aren't expressed; the opinion is so dismissive that where ever it is you're coming from must be so terribly different from where I'm coming from, or just terrible. If you have reasons, fantastic. If Cowboy Bebop just didn't float your boat, then wow, that sucks.

It's one thing to not enjoy it, it's another to not recognize what's good about it.

+1 PithyGriff

In the time I've been watching anime, which, I admit hasn't been that long, I've discovered that almost every anime series/movie I've watched has something good about it, even Eiken (hate, hate, despise) has good artwork, despite being so ecchi that it is both borderline hentai and quite rediculous.

First, I love Cowboy Bebop.

But there's one thing that is bad about CB. The story. The series was just episodic...

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

More exiting that way. Also it makes mroe sense, since they're bounty-hunters, so one case per episode is sensible. The odd double to cover the characters more closely. Also you continuously learn more about the characters on-the-fly so-to-speak :)

I found nothing groundbreaking or special about the series. It was not even memorable in a good or bad way. Most series that I have enjoyed or been disappointed in at least left some some sort of impression. The impression Cowboy left was forgettable and certainly holds no replay value for me. Cowboy was over the place and didn't seem to have any real story or make much sense. It had one enjoyable character who's name I can't even remember and didn't even join the series until late. I just didn't get Cowboy Bebop. Its not like I hate everything Shinichirō Watanabe worked on. Samurai Champloo, on the other hand, was an Anime that left a lasting impression. I never understood the hype for Cowboy and wouldn't come close to a top 25 on my list.

Each to his own I guess.
