New BONES work: Heroman!

(1/2) > >>

Takeshi:

It's BONES so I am watching this, but it looks a bit odd. Definitely some Bounen no Xamdou resemblance in the PV (no English subs). Original Work: Stan Lee. This has my interest now. ;D

Airing on the 1st of April so a bit over 2 weeks left.

--- Quote from: Summary (AniDB) ---An American kid named Joey lives in an urban city & has always wanted to become a hero. Unfortunately he's just an orphan working part time to support his grandma and himself. After he watched a toy commercial on a new robot action figure, Joey believe he'll gain strength if he obtains one. The only robot toy he can get his hands on is a broken one that was abandon by a rich school bully. Feeling pity for the trashed action figure, Joey took it home to repair it. Little did he know, that once he repairs the toy, it'll make his hero dream become a reality.

I've just read the 3 (YES, 3!) chapters of the manga which is out. Here's my thoughts:
(click to show/hide)Weak story and generic characters. Stan Lee's first (second?) manga isn't incredible, but it could be a lot worse. And it doesn't make sense to make an anime out of a manga when there's 3 chapters out. But seeing as it started in 2009 there could be more out in raws (20 chapters?). But regardless I'll watch because this is BONES.

jason9ine:
From Stan Lee as in the Stan Lee of Marvel?

newy:
Yes, as far as I know Heroman (manga) is his second project. The other project is called ULTIMO aka Karakuridouji Ultimo.

link0007:
Sounds interesting because stan lee is involved but the actual series doesn't really sound that cool to me.

kenshin-dono:
ah this is another stan lee one? I love bones but i think i may take a pass on this. It seems just too kiddy.

I do remember ultimo vaguely. I got sent the first issue for some reason when i ordered ab uncha stuff from rightstuff.com. It seemed very generic and kiddy, so this is probably more of the same. Actually when it was mentioned that this was stan lee i thought it was the same thing though the premise sounded different than i remember
