Adopting an (kinda) "controlled" group's torrent
« on: March 19, 2010, 04:06:37 PM »
Yes. What is BBT's policy of adopting torrents, that are from "controlled" groups?

ex. I've seen that some of a4e's torrents are up for adoption. Rules says that only uploading controlled group's releases are allowed by that group's distro. Adopting isnt really same as uploading, even though after adoption you will be tagged as the "uploader"

Also what I meant about "kinda controlled group's" torrent was BluDragon's few torrents. there is already few torrents up for adoption and was planning to adopt something. Also rules really doesnt say anything that BluDragon's releases are "controlled" but as I have seen that Dragon80 has only uploaded his releases only by himself, I have got that picture that BluDragon's releases are "kinda" controlled..

I tried to search any possible existing topic of this same without success and wiki/rules doesnt say anything about this... Anyone could flash me?

they see me rollin', they hatin'..

If it was not allowed to adopt those, they wouldn't be on the list. And your adoption request would be denied.
Well, ok, errors can occur.  ;)

But I've adopted at least one "controlled release" torrent, and I've seen several other users who've done likewise.

everything in the adoption list can be adopted. if you are not supposed to it's our (the staffs) problem to deal with ;)

there are no "kinda" controlled releases to worry about either.

ah well good then! Then I dont have anything to worry about.

Btw. Also a side question: I see that some of those (lol actually almost all) has really fancy description. Is it extremely bad if I use them for later offers? I guess I probably need to request some kind of permission to study/edit/modify them to use them in future?

There is always that possible that one torrent has slipped from your eyes.. ;)

Actually I have got a picture that Doki's releases are controlled as most of their releases are uploaded by Hologram.

Quote from: wiki
Fan Releases from these groups can only be uploaded by their group distro members:

    * Anime-4Ever (A4E) - ShannonNii and Shadowfax
    * Anime-HQ (AHQ) - AHQMV
    * Anime-Supreme - CvP
    * EntertheBlog/EncoderFlaccid (EtB/ENG/EnF)
    * SHiN-gx - Hiromi and freakonature
    * Solstice - freakonature
No Doki. :S It would fall in one of those "kinda" controlled groups..

Only a4e has still agreed to maintain their torrents themselves (well, ShannonNii) the rest have put no effort into doing so.
Anything in the adoption list may be adopted.

Edit: Why would that be bad? Use it...

If nobody has offered anything from one of those "kinda controlled groups", it's probably because no one bothered XD

(Or simply that one user beats the rest of them to it, every time.)

wouldnt it be same as "Take Blubart's one extremely fancy description and edit it slightly and use it in future"? Im sure Blubby would be really s/mad panda..

(and I hope Blubart likes his new nickname "Blubby"  8))

if i would be mad about something like that i couldn't take a look at 70+% of the more "fancy" descriptions on BBT. I only mind if someone takes a description i made for a specific anime and uses it slightly modified for the same anime without asking me in advance.

If you look at that, all of the fancy descriptions on BBT are usually just CSS boxes with the fonts, colors and pictures changed up.

Although, if you ask me, Jarudin's Death Note Description is epic win. No fancy codes or anything going on there, but it is just sheer awesomeness. Mostly cause the rest of us wouldn't be able to get away with breaking pretty much every description rule there is  ;D

He'd be madder if you take his description, make it horrid, ruin the CSS and the syntax and then credit him :D

Hologram is Doki's boss and who else than the boss has the full and fully revised batch of a Doki project? ;) (With the exception that the boss isn't involved with a project)

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

In other news he does "Kristens":
offer the batch torrent before the REAL batch torrent has even released on site..

Also please call me extremely dumb or newfag but I really dont get Jaru's DN description. Doesnt state any info of serie/files/links.. or at least it doesnt "load" in my PC.

Lol, you missed the joke. The awesome part is that there is no description, it is just that one image. Check the frame source if you want.

And why not? He's perfectly entitled to do so.
