~ Is it possible to make games useful to society?

<< < (2/5) > >>

MammalSauce:
don't know about you guys, but i think relying on warcraft nerds and online gamers in general to solve real world problems is a bad idea. :-\

DaggerLite:
@MammalSauce
You're not relying on them to do stuff. You're trying to take advantage of their otherwise uselessness. Quite a few WoW players are doing complicated things in and around the game. Theorycrafting and Wiki building are some of the common things for WoW players. There will still be people around who do whatever they do in life, but why just have people who spend their time gaming go to waste?

@Carnivus:
I know what you mean. I too knew English long before others my age, mainly because of cartoons and stuff that you'd think was a waste of time. Games do teach us things as they especially train our reflexes, but the idea here is more about whether or not it can be used for the good of society in some way.

MammalSauce:
problem solvers of tomorrow

mgz:
yay troll.

either way, its not saying that gaming = good for society per say. Its saying that if harnessed properly gamers which = a substantial amount of people can be utilized in some capacity for good.
And that the mindset of many gamers is one that should be had by most people in the real world because it would help solve problems.

best way for gamers to help the world imo=make a device that tranfers the kinetic energy from finger movements into electrical energy and transmits it into the power grid. :D
