We can yell angry things at this guy if we want.
TorturdChaos:
Well there Sony goes yanking another feature from their ps3 line. First i was the backwards compatibility, now the other OS feature. I know they didn't take away the backwards compatibly form existing machines, just stopped offering it in new machines, but I still think its counts.
Whats next? Won't been able to stream media to it from my computer? take out the web browser?
I say its complete BS that they removed a feature form EXISTING machines. I can at least see a point in removing the backwards compatibly - greed for more PSO PS2 slim sales. But I don't even see a point in yanking the other OS feature, how does that even gain Sony anything?
Also found this the other day: USAF isn't too happy with Sony for taking away the Other OS feature, since they have a super computer built using 2500+ PS3's. Would be interesting if the USFA put some pressure on Sony :D.

Sony doesn't give a shit about them. Sony was losing money from them since they weren't buying any software.

Concur. I mean, they might be able to strike a deal to buy a full cost version on another assembly line, but expect a far more expensive side contract. They might have to consider some other thing to add to their "super computer".
Natheria:
That whole PS3 "super computer" thing was always a pet project/publicity stunt in my mind anyway (kinda like how i feel about Fermi right now and their HPC adoption thing). In the end they should have thought about not using hardware that may or may not have different firmware in the future (lol, silly military); and Sony should stop being greedy assholes who continue to be completely ignorant about what their "consumers" are doing. (They still have the delusion that the number 1 problem the PSP faces is piracy... ROFLMAO!!!)
