Natheria:
I constantly ask myself what's so special about the quad core i series, then i hop onto my laptop with it's T series C2D to do some processor heavy stuff + trying to multitask while I'm away from home and i suddenly remember why i love my i5 so much... 8)

Yup, 4 cores but it shows up as 8 cores due to hyper-threading. Some have 2 cores iirc... Wish I had one though, stuck with a crap c2d e6300 xD

How exactly would you go about doing that? Using an image of your drive? Just moving setup files to the new computer? ??? that's bound to fail.

Well as long the new drive is in the exact same location (connected to same SATA/PATA port) and the filesystem on it is exactly the same, I don't see why it won't work. You could probably do that with something like Acronis True Image I guess. I know I've done it with a simple "cp -arv" to transfer my Linux install from one HDD to another, and it worked perfectly, but I doubt one cp command would work on a Windows install, then again, it might be that simple... Gotta try it someday :P

Hyper-threading is nearly useless except for poorly coded applications. If you ever do anyting CPU intensive, make sure you do some tests with it on and off to see which is better.
Even a Core 2 quad will do nicely in a well written, multithreaded app.
Too bad i7's cost so much though.. next best thing would be an i5-750.
vuzedome:
Multi-threading is just for showing off to others that you have eight threads running in taskmanager.

Looks pretty awesome though :P
