K-ON!! (K-ON! Season 2)
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:43:23 AM »

Second season of K-ON!, K-ON!! just came out! Discuss!! Exclamation mark!!!

[ AniDB | ANN ]

Plot Summary: It's the final year of high school for Yui Hirasawa (guitar), Ritsu Tainaka (drums), Mio Akiyama (bass), and Tsumugi Kotobuki (keyboard); the founding members of the Light Music Club. Together with their junior member Azusa Nakano (guitar), they spend their days after school in the music room enjoying tea and sweets, and practicing music. Amidst band practice, preparations for the new student orientation performance, scouting for new members, and student responsibilities they still have time for "After School Tea Time". — ANN

Just watched the first episode and I really liked what I saw. Very fluid animation with slow-paced moeblob goodness.

no we don't, just change the original topic name to add S2 to it and were done, the new topic is not required.

I thought the OP song was so-so at first but after a while I started to like it. It kinda fits the show in a way.

The change in OP and ED just... put me off balance, I guess. The episode was good enough, although I am once again finding myself frustrated by the lack of music scenes. I mean, they have a thousand excuses to do more concert scenes than Angel Beats, and yet, they don't seem to think that is necessary.
That's nothing new, though. We had the exact same problems in Season 1, and it was still plenty enjoyable.

That's because the concert scene in Angel Beats was unnecessary, especially for the first episode. It sets up the wrong expectations and is just anti climactic. So far the pacing for season 2 is just fine and i wasn't expecting a completely new concert for the beginning of the season.

Also, how exactly did the OP/ED put you off balance?

+1

I love the OP and the ED songs. Love the ED animation as well. The OP animation is all great, except for the scene when they circle around the band twice.

I especially love the electric snap and crackle in the OP.

I still think having two threads for K-ON is completely retarded, but whatever. If a mod feels like it he can merge this.
I liked the first episode of the new season - one of the best episodes so far. I dislike the OP mostly because in my opinion Toyosaki Aki's voice really doesn't work in that style. I'll probably warm up to it with the time passing, same as with the first season. ED is pretty nice, nothing special but good enough.
Anyways, K-ON was never a show where the music itself had too much meaning, and if you're expecting it to suddenly focus on performances, then you were watching different anime than me all this time. This is a show about girls being in a a school club, not about girls playing music. Feeling frustrated because it's a not the show that you want means that maybe you should just watch something else.
That said, it's entirely possible that music will slowly start being more important - or at least stop being cut out. They have to fill 24 episodes with something, after all.

Is it me or is Yui getting sillier (and probably lazier too) with each passing episode? Must be a side-effect of Mugi's cakes. :D

This episode was a lot better than the first.

The OP is still a stroke of genius, the ED is slowly growing on me. I want them as soon as they're released.
