Major Issues with the laptop
« on: April 08, 2010, 04:50:10 PM »
I don't have any ideas why this is happening...But I'm using a top spec laptop; 4gb ram, led screen, nvidia graphics card etc. It's about a month old.

Now the only problem that I keep getting is downloading and installing. Whether I'm downloading from goodle websites, download.com, rapid.share (downloaded 30GB non working) it doesn't matter the only one that's working is torre.nts lol, i don't know why? Simple legal stuff I have to download off torre.nts.

I keep getting these types of messages; crc check failed, corrupt files, corrupt volumes, incomplete download, media damaged. wtf?

I'm having to download stuff off other pcs and install it there then taking the folder, put it on my usb then moving it over. Programs include; jdownloader, google earth, google chrome flash player, team speak, skype and many more.

check your hard disk with HD tune, while the chance is low to have a damaged hard disk that soon it is not unheard of

You sure it's not a download accelerator gone awry?

A program that is supposed to help you either download faster, or "resume" a download in case you accidentally quit or something" before it's done.

If your HDD has corrupted sectors, generally it's very slow as well. (But not always)

Downloaded it, and running scan, dont like 1/5 with one damaged block so far

Doesn't look good ... a new harddisk should have no damaged blocks at all

I got a friends laptop at my home to check and he had the same problems, did a scan and 5,2% of his harddisk was damaged ... first bad block only came up at 30GB (it's a 60GB HD)

finished and it says 0.0% damaged and only 1 red block ?

Try defragging it. Sometimes that helps, though it might be something registry related. If so, try system restore. If all else fails, utilize the recovery partition to reformat it. Backup your files beforehand though. Also, last, but not least, run a scan using your Antivirus. Might be malware, spyware, etc. funking up your system.
