Why some of us don't watch mainstream anime?
surdumil:
I haven't watched any part of any of those series yet.
I am finding so many great anime series that are not vastly long and take up vast amounts of storage space that I don't feel the need to set aside bandwidth and time to download and watch them. My ISP package includes a file transfer cap, so I've got to manage my bandwidth usage carefully. Also, I tend to follow Starl1te's notions.
Maybe some day I might check those series out, but it'll most likely be by borrowing the first few episodes from a public library or maybe a cheap purchase from a department stores DVD bargain bin. I've no compelling need or desire, though. It's not that I have a dislike for them, but that I haven't any strong desire to watch them.
Gems like Kenran Butoh Sai, Kemonozume, Everyday is Sunday, Kaiba, Oruchuban Ebichu, PlanetES, Elf Princess Rane, Sadamitsu the Destroyer, Starship Operators, Haibane Renmei and many, many others, are far more attractive to me, so they tend to absorb my viewing time.

Undefined... unnecessary? :D
JoonasTo:
I can't stand the way One Piece is drawn.
Naruto is so damn annoying.
Bleach didn't interest me.
FMA just doesn't click.
I did watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, Soul Eater and Magic Knight Rayearth.
Roven:
I have no problem when it comes to how many episodes, but the fact that I'm going to download all of them with my laughable internet keeps me awake at night, and I'm more of a sienen guy so it doesn't really interest me.
Enzedder:
I think that the number of episodes is what keeps many people away. (Of course some just don't like it and I can understand that.)
For example when I managed to get all 420 (where it was up to at the time) episodes of One Piece off a guy at uni I literally watched only One Piece for probably close to 2-3 weeks. I fitted in episodes where ever possible and eventually I caught up.
Now I am watching it simply one ep (4 in total. OP, Naruto, Bleach, KHR.) a week which I have on RSS feed anyway so it just notifies me and downloads so its almost no work to keep up to date with it.
From what I hear Fairy Tail is meant to be going the same way so I am jumping in now before it gets to the point of 100 episodes and still going.
Then again maybe its cause I like Zero to Hero anime.
