Rainbow - Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
« on: April 11, 2010, 09:58:52 PM »
So, are any of you watching it?
I saw the first episode today and it was as good as I expected. I was thrilled at the quality of the narration and the music, it seems I will thoroughly enjoy this one.

This will definitely be one of the more interesting shows. A small counter balance to all that moeblob, ecchi, and harem stuff out there (well, I do watch those too). Having such a series once in a while is a nice change of pace.

lol, while writing these lines I suddenly had to think about connecting Rainbow with Prisonbreak O_o

I thought of Prisonbreak the moment the Trailer Poster talked about junkies breaking out of prison.
Did you know Satan was supposedly gods RIGHT HAND MAN, not his left. Blows your theory out of the water now doesn't it.

same thing, l don't really think what to think about this hsow yet, the first episode didn't hook me up for it, the op is kinda fitting (OP song) but if this is gonna be some drama they could use a bit softer sound of it, l'll give it another episode before l decide anything, the introduction of characters took a while, well at least we know he can put up a fight, gave them a nice beating wich isn't that uncommon in prisons. also finaly an anime that isn't medieval or futuristic, but instead about something that took place 50 years ago (55atm) so l guess it's gonna be worth the watch, on another note it might not be something we are expecting it to be at all.

l'm gining it another episode to hook me up.
Btw l didn't watch Prison Break, cuz to me personally it was quite boring.

Prison Break is one awesome, although its value declined with each season.

This has got to be one of the better series this season other than the contemporary fantasy crap = yes, looking at you, Angel Beats, and mandatory mindlessly ecchi. For some reason people never gets tired of looking at pantsus and tits.

I'm loving the dark theme and it looks like a proper production which doesn't use violence just for the heck of it.

You gotta love Madhouse for their taste in great songs for their openings. Souten Kouro = Tribal Chair | Death Note = Maximum The Hormone & The Nightmare | and now this; RAINBOW = coldrain.. (same guys to do the ED for Hajime No Ippo New Challenger, haha, no resemblance!)

I wonder if the boxing will have a bigger part in this manga. I was like. "I see why you bothered with this now, Saizen. ;)" AniDB at least doesn't show other than: Delinquents, Seinen, Violence.

it does have an interesting story comming to it, but like l said it didn't hook me up, and yeh l like echii anime cuz altough it's echii it tends to be very comedic, and l like a good laugh, if you can't find a good laugh anime try any of the echii anime's ;]

l'm gonna give this show one more episode to catch my attention, if it doesn't work l'm dropping it to finish it sometime later.

What really stunk a chord with me was, as I mentioned, the way the soundtrack was layed out. Guitar BG, intensifying towards the end, and the narration with a powerful voice, it just speaks directly to the soul. Now, the topic is not really that uncommon in western cinema. I wouldn't compare it to Prison Break though, more to The Shawshank Redemption, which starts off at about the same time period. But it is an original theme when it comes to anime, I don't recall watching an anime about prison... Well at any rate, I expect a lot of badassery out of this.

Yeah, gotta say, this seems too cruel to watch every week. It just seems too good.

I haven't watched it yet (damn slow internets) but I've heard it's quite good and similar in tone and theme to Texnholyze?

It was alright, will be watching the next episode. I also agree that it is good to see something a little different in the lineup, keeps things interesting.

i had a friend of mine watching Death Note from the day they released the first episode. He actually "made" me wait for it to end before i started it, cause he was watching it week by week and couldn't really stand it. Thank God he did that! Now that tought me a lesson... never bother watch normal sized (up to 51 episodes)series before they are finished ;) Not really worth it imo. Especially if there is something promising ;) (i watched half Blade of the Immortal in that way and it spoiled the fun... waited for it to end and rewatched from the beginning )

Nah, I can't watch a whole series that fast anyways, I even fall behind on currently airing series. So if a series is airing, it doesn't bother me at all, as I tend to finish it faster in such cases... Besides, I don't think this is going to be the cliffhanger type of anime, so it shouldn't really be an issue whether it is ongoing or not.

What makes you think that?

I just think it is going to be at least somewhat episodic. I am guessing it will tell a few stories that happen on the inside of the prison and then have one or two final episodes to wrap the whole thing up. I could be wrong, of course, I haven't read the manga or anything, it's just a hunch.

Best opening episode I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to see more.

Episode 2 is out now. It just confirmed everything for me. This is going to be the best series of the season, the year... possibly of the past few years. Damn this is intense.

Episode 3: Great. Absolutely great and that soundtrack. I can't wait for it to be out!

Wonder who that off voice is, maybe the woman from the preview for ep4?
