So i watched the first couple episodes of Bleach
« on: April 13, 2010, 07:40:29 PM »
I enjoyed it.Light easy kinda fun anime. My problem is i dont
know if i could ever watch 260+ episodes of it.I dont watch
a ton of anime and this would take me probably all year to watch.
I like it but there are a ton of other anime i could watch in the time
it takes to see this.
My question is i guess is it worth it for someone who cant watch
a lot attempt to watch this series?
Does it fall into the trap of repetitiveness that many longer show do?
I hear the term filler arcs a lot for these longer shows what does that mean anyway?

Thanks for the help as always.

I think it gradually gets better until episode 20 or so, where it really picks up. Then I watched until episode 80 or whatever it was until the fillers really started... Still stuck there. Really depends on what you like, but if you like shounen/adventure/action I think it's a pretty good watch, the first season at least.

Filler arcs usually means made up, irrelevant things to the story that didn't appear in the original manga to start with. Reason for these can be that the anime is closing up to the original manga (and thus running out of source material) and tries to broaden the gap by making things up.

Filler episodes/arc's are original stories who aren't made by the original author and mostly made to "fill up" the time it takes for the manga to distance itself enough (aka have enough material) from the anime so that the anime doesn't have to go off-air. While fillers can be good in some series, they are mostly of inferior quality and can bring in continuity issues.

Bleach is definitely worth the watch until the end of the Soul Society Arc, after that I would definitely skip over the filler arcs (you can google for which episodes are filler)

It's 100% worth it to watch up until 80 or so, then the Bounto filler arc begins.... It's not THAT bad but nothing much really. At about 120 or so (if i remember correct) the show goes back on the main arc, that's it up until 227 (well some random fillers in between) and up till now (265 aired last week) we are dealing with the WORST FILLERS in filler history.

In my opinion just start it, when you reach 80 you decide if you continue and see everything, or just skip fillers or just skip the whole show. 1-80 episode is 8.5-9 / 10 for me.

It's ok sometimes, but use wiki to skip all filler episodes, don't waste your time.

I watched to: Bleach 75 (s4)

By that point, I couldn't take any more Bleach. So, I'm giving it a long rest until I get in the mood again lol. It was pretty good up till then though!

I'll wait until it gets the dragon ball Kai treatment and I can watch it all in like 50 eps.

yep i agree. Watch upto 80. then you can start skipping fillers and other episodes. aswell. I'm stalled on episode 220 have stalled a few times before this. But basically you can skip alot later on as many of them are largely pointless/dragged out fights.

Am I the only one that didn't find the Bount arc that bad? I mean, playing soccer, breaking fiend swords, having a captain-thats-not-quite-like-aizen-but-he-is and he along with his subcaptain betray soul society are the worst fillers ever to see the light of day. Bount wasn't that bad.

Life? Heroism does not end with life! Just look at the fields before you! Great deeds as ever they were!

ye compared to other fillers it was ok-ish. It was TOTAL CRAP though when it first aired xD

(not to mention the retarded ending on that filler)

I liked the concept of the bounto arc. And now... the bounto arc looks amazing in comparison to the retarded sword fiend arc.

probably because the bountos were somewhat similar to inoue.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

I guess we'll see max 15-20 episodes of the main arc and then get a huge filler again. And i sense the next filler is gonna be EVEN worse than the sword fiends arc... And we'll be here saying "omfg this filler arc sucks.... sword fiends ftw). IF that happens though i guess most of us will quit bleach altogether.

Well Kubo Tite isn't really making it easy for the Anime producers with the amount of content (or rather lack of) in each chapter
When I read a Bleach chapter i'm through it in a minute, big difference with for example Naruto and certainly One Piece

Personally I would agree with most of the comments and say you watch the first arc but I think many people would also agree that even after the first arc regardless of fillers the series never reaches the same peak and the story itself becomes a drag, mediocre and repetetive so my advice would be after the first arc (think its around ep 60ish-70ish) just stop watching it all together since it doesn't get any better than the first part + there is so much better stuff out there you could watch. That is unless you really feel the urge to see what else will happen...but you have been warned ;) .
