Looking for Multi Desktop
lapa321:
If you're using an nVidia card, there's nView.
If you're using an ATI card, there's Hydravision.
I don't know about hydravision but i've used nView. I've used it a lot at work, infact, i specifically looked for an old unit that didn't have a built in video so i could put in an old nVidia card. I then used it to swap between my gaming desktop and my workspace. One has Ragnarok Online, the FAQ's, gaming forums, cheat sheets, etc. Whent he boss comes in, one keypress and i instantly switch to my workspace, databases, IDE's, references, ebooks, etc.
Pretty useful. And nobody looking over your shoulder would know the difference ;D

We're talking about multiple desktops on one monitor. Both of those use multiple monitors. I've also used nView, and have had some problems with it. I tried to use my old CRT with its low resolution with my, somewhat, new LCD screen with its considerably higher resolution. Thats in Windows, in Linux, using X was a pain in the ass. However, this thread implies the use of Windows so I won't describe that.

I think it's more along the lines of hiding short cuts etc you have on your desktop and hiding that which you have open. Then having another desktop that can be displayed with different shortcuts and stuff open.
AFAIK, Sony has a thing like this too.

Yeah, my experience with nView is just with one monitor. Open your applications, they show up on your screen like normal. Hit the shortcut for Next desktop, everything on your screen disappears and you're back to a clean desktop with a blank taskbar. Open more applications, hit Next Desktop again and it's once again blank (assuming that you set it to more than two desktops). You'll cycle through the desktops until you go back to the first and all the applications you left running there are back exactly as you left it, and your RO merchant is still selling items at his store :)

Pretty much similar to ubuntu's multi desktop minus compiz animations or default animations of any sort and minus the mini desktop icon on the bottom right I think it was.
