Halo Legends Vs Animatrix
« on: April 19, 2010, 02:50:47 AM »
Ok before you people start throwing stones, I know what most of you are thinking.  "They are totally different. They were produced so far apart that they can't be relevant...blah blah blah."  But on another note they are both adaptations of American Sci-fi phenomenons that started out with unheard of wow factor.  Yet somewhere along the way, both franchises seemed to become more and more convoluted and IMO sloppily expanded upon.   Then both universes were reintroduced to the world by some of Anime's finest minds.  With that said I was just curious to know which one you guys felt complimented the universe better.  To me they both redeemed some of the missteps that had occurred in the source material.

I'm kind of on the fence as it is but I'll have to rewatch Animatrix for myself this week.

It's been a long while since I watched the Animatrix and I haven't finished Halo Legends...    But I'd give the nod to Animatrix...

Partly because I love the Matrix, partly because I grew to hate myself after watching an episode or two of Halo...   Yeah. (Also, I have no current plans to finish Halo Legends)

Though, I'd have to say Gotham Knight was better than both of them.   Mainly because they actually got Batman to play Batman (The vo)

I loved the Package. That is probably the best Halo Legends one. 3D animation suits the whole Halo theme, but regular animation not so much.

I'll definitely have to check out Gotham Knight.  I guess one of the reasons I thought HL was pretty good was because I expected it to be complete ass.  Maybe it was just a pleasant surprise for me.  I'll have to rewatch it from a more critical perspective later.  But i was definitely impressed to be honest.

i being a person who played halo once and hated it, but expected the anime to be entertaining was extremely disappointed. Because while you say ignore the story, i kind of will. I will ignore the actual topics of the story and go with the lack of actually telling a story that makes sense in most of the episodes of the halo anime.

Damn I never realized how hated these projects were.  For me they were fresh irreverent distractions from the standard Anime and American Sci-fi franchises.  I wouldn't go so far as to call 'em classics but they were very much entertaining.

Strange. I enjoyed animatrix. I found it to be less crap than matrix 2 and 3. Maybe because after they expanded, I was totally like, "WTF IS THIS SHIT?"

Didn't finish Gotham Knight, but the bits and pieces I saw seemed promising. (Saw some of it over my brother's shoulder when he was watching it) Curious to know what people compared it to.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

The problem with both is that there are bad episodes among the good.  So I'm forced to go through bad episodes to find any that are worth watching.  Kinda ruins the overall experience.

Not a Halo fan, so that first episode was enough for me.  Others may be good, but didn't want to go through more of what the first put me through.

weren't they both very shit? there was the occasional good ep but Animatrix had more good eps
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.

that fact that you can say there were some bad ones in a 8 episode (most like 10-15 minute episodes)  is awful IMO

I liked both, but as most here I don't recall too much of Animatrix. I am fairly sure I skipped parts of it, because I was younger, and it was before I got really interested in animation as an art. These stories are very artistic rather than the typical action that non-anime or general cartoon fans like. At least, that's what I'd like to think.

I'll vouch for Halo, because I weren't ever really that much into the Matrix universe. I didn't see The Matrix 2 and 3 until long after I saw Animatrix though, so I don't know. I should re-watch that one.

What about Gotham Knight?

Gotham Knight hands down; I personally preferred Studio 4C's "Have I got A Story For You" and Madhouse's "Deadshot" and "In Darkness Dwells".

I haven't seen Halo Legends completely yet despite uploaded two of the current versions on BBT. :D But I'm not hating the ones I have seen. The Package was very entertaining.

Like DaggerLite I haven't really grasped a liking for the Matrix universe so most of the stories didn't really interest me much. Other than the ones who managed to impress in terms of animation and pacing.

I would say Gotham Knight. Most of them are right up my ally. That's just my opinion. It probably has something to do with me generally not having an interest for the two other franchises.

My friend hates Batman and actually hated Gotham Knight, big surprise. Apparently, he thinks he's boring because he doesn't have any special powers, but that's what makes him so interesting. He doesn't need any.
