I will have to say it would depend on the casting of the katana there, some were heavier for that exact reason.

There's the other weapon altogether that was designed to destroy calvary by being long enough to slash out a horse's legs from a distance. Forget the name though.

On a random note... would riding an elephant be a good idea during a zombie invasion?

Would that be the Naginata, Foh Foh?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naginata

Possibly. Though I thought there was one that was longer... Dunno...

People with guns specifically designed to kill these animals get killed by these animals. And guns are 10,000x better than a sword of any kind when hunting. That's "ten thousand times," by the by, not the gay European "we're going to use a comma instead of a decimal point to seperate the ones place from the tenths place, lol."

I lol'd

Yes indeed. I believe it was the nodachi I was referring to originally.

IMO, too long. Give me a regular nodachi and it's all good. The super nodachi... too cumbersome to use anywhere else but an open field. What are you going to be? The garborator of death? Makes me think that thing might break too.

Could I kill any of those with anything? Maybe a BFG, but not a katana.

- Of course you could! Don't believe in yourself, believe in me, who believes you. Yours is a katana that cut open a path to a new world!!!

Do we have a tree? I think I could handle lions with a katana and a tree.

There are so many things that are unspecified that make this hard to answer and questionable, but I'll do my best to stay away from that.

Elephant - Doubt it. It won't stand there long enough for you to hack away at it and as we know elephants and be crazy as hell.

Bear - Still a pretty shitty chance, but if it's a cub then go for it.

Pack of lions - lmao

Now this would all be different if I was some bad ass swordsman like Kenshin or the likes of that...

and I like how I'm one of few who took this seriously rofl, but this would be a good way to make the paper.

A point there, especially if it was a pine tree with no branches below 10m and you were sitting on the lowest one so you'd be able to hack away at the paws when they climb. Well try anyways.

Because we can!
