Yeah, I got my first D&D books before I could even read.
One thing I've discovered, is that pastors, preachers and whatnot, tend to be the most openminded about religous topics, as well as having well founded beliefs. They are some of the only people I can actually enjoy having a religous argument with.

I will agree with you on that for the most part, but I still find ones that are quite locked up and crazy with belief and if it doesn't suit there ideas it is not of god and will not be of them type. They aren't as common as people make them sound but well you still run into them.

its because just like any other really religious person, there are some who are open minded and understand that they may not be able to prove everything but they believe in it completely because thats what they do. They dont force their beliefs on you, or question yours they just do their own thing.
In contrast there is fundamentalists who often do batshit crazy things in ANY RELIGION.
The batshit crazy ones are WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY YYY LESS in numbers then the even remotely normal ones.
Problem is the 1% of batshit crazy ones are way more entertaining so they get airtime
