Laptop HDD question - revisited

<< < (2/2)

Perplexing:
Personally if I had the means to get a SSD i'd do it in a heartbeat myself. I wouldn't need nothing too big as I would use it as my primary drive for win 7.
On a laptop I would then use (provided you have one or could invest in one) an external hard drive for any additional storage needed.

Also if you do get the HDD for the laptop I wouldn't disgard the old one seeing as how you are getting good SMART readings. Instead I would look into buying an external enclosure and using that as an external HDD as I did with my old laptop's HDD once I decided to get a new laptop that is.

My old laptop HDD was an IDE one so I went on newegg and purchased from rosewill an enclosure for $10.00 US. I have since bought a 320GB and a 1TB external but I take my other one with me more often that the others whenever a need for an external arises.

Other than that get the SSD for fun.... make those who can not afford them yet jealous  :P

fohfoh:
True. Though atm, I need something more for storage/main comp before I turn my laptop into "fun" via the use of an SSD. In all seriousness, once I no longer need this laptop as a main comp, then it'll make an excellent portable computer. (I torrent a lot on this laptop currently, which isn't something I want to do with an SSD).
