Plasma arc speaker
(1/1)
flyawave:
I'm halfway through making one, however, I'd like to know if there is an easier way to modulate the frequency.
I was thinking, if I put the right channel of audio + Live into one terminal of the transformer, and left channel and nuetral into the other terminal, will it work? obviously using diodes to make the current go the right way.

Depends on what you want to arc - you do it that way and you will most likely have arc's and sparks in you audio equipment.
Most of the methods take the audio input and convert it into square wave that turns the arc on and off at the rate of the audio frequency. Its not a direct couple between the audio amp to the transformers: massive impedance mismatch, inductive feedback, not enough power... If your lucky, it will just not work; if your not lucky, it will blow out the finals in your amp.
