[Movie] Mardock Scramble

<< < (8/9) > >>

jevitsj:
You know the manga and the movies are based on a book trilogy by Tow Ubakata link.

I really liked the books but I haven't seen the movies yet.

You can get the English translated book here: amazon.com
or here: bookdepository.co.uk

(click to show/hide)Though I have to say the director went a bit too far with nudity and all. I understand the sexual abuse and all but showing it over and over again, hmm, I just thought it was a bit too much. And her final battle armor, well too much skin. I don't know if she chose that because she has got used to skimpy clothing due to her past, but oh well.....

I'm okay with the nudity. I love the dark story though. The whole focus on this one character is what's so interesting. The mange doesn't give off a sense of dark or mature story yet.. I prefer the movie because of the maturity it has.

That said, I'm on volume 2 on the manga.

(click to show/hide)sexual abuse is one of the story drivers. it's portrayed in a no-frills and very mature way in the movie, together with the social consequences and the weight it lays on the victims.

The manga avoids a lot of what the movie offers. I hope the novel portraits in its original form.

D4oS:
I don't think it's a spoiler, but just in case:
(click to show/hide)In second movie she's like half of screen time naked, but in a completely asexual way.I've no problem with nudity here, doesn't feel like fanservice.
Also:
(click to show/hide)This heaven-like place was awesome, nice break from the brutal world they're used to live in.
