Im pretty sure its got a regular charger also.... It'd be pointless if it didnt. . .you cant leave it in your desk overnight to charge. . . =.=

but yeah im pretty sure it should come with a regular charger and that thing is just . . .iono if you get lost in a desserted island or something and you dont have a power outlet anywhere near. . .

I mean. . .imagine if Tom hanks (in cast away) would've had a puma solar phone. . .pfft a lot better than wilson offcourse. . .

Good luck finding a base station on a deserted island. You know... cellular phones ain't quite the same as satellite phones... or even like radio phones. Thus wouldn't even be able to call your friend 10 meters away on that deserted island.

If your idea of Puma Phone reaching the peak of it's functionality is how well it would function on a deserted (but sunny) island, I probably agree with you. If I were to be stuck on a deserted island, it would be nice to have a solar-charged device that has animated Puma Inside(TM) for companionship. Other that that, it's useless.

We don't want to hear/read your prejudices (since they are also wrong). Either you have something to say about the topic (the phone here) or shut the fuck up. One more of this derogatory comment and you have time to see for yourself if Puma only has "sneakers and sweatpants" and if the "fathers are high on opium" or if any child is working in a Puma factory at all.

Oooh... "wrong opinions". Probably comparable to detrimental knowledge and inferior art.

What is there to say about the Puma Phone itself since the promotion page tell practically NOTHING about the phone itself but only about trendiness of the thing?

The facts need to be looked from somewhere else like:

Was it because of N word, or was it because you are personally a fan of either Puma (or one of the other fashionable child-labour brands), or because you like to wear sweatpants and sneakers outside sports events? I'm not being derogatory now. Just asking it politely because I want to know if it was "wrong opinions" or bad way of expressing them that offends you.

I never said child labour is factual within Puma (at least today). I said that's basically MY brand image of any corporation manufacturing or designing & outsourcing production to developed countries. (This includes Apple Inc. for example.) Puma may well be among the smallest violators there since at least with Google search I didn't find any scandals that were around Puma in particular. I did find some for:
Nike: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/nike-admits-to-mistakes-over-child-labour-631975.html
Adidas: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2000/nov/19/jasonburke.theobserver
In addition to these brand having been really in the mud, I wouldn't vow for other players in the same industry. After all, if they all claim to have some zero-tolerance policy to such things, how come some of them still get caught? Also, if they claim they don't use child labour, how can they actually aim to REDUCE what they tell does not exist? Now that would be a dilemma.

They are old news, but brand image is slow to change.

Anyway, if you as what is Reebok's stand on child labour, it's the same as Nike's. If you ask what Nike's stand on child labour, it's that they don't use one. If you ask if they use: sure. Yes they do (or at least they did, while denying it all the time). So basically we're left in a position of whether we take their word for it or not. After all, if they are manufactured in developing countries, how do you monitor the work conditions? The factories most likely have armed guards after all...

-----

Basically the only way to really be sure is if the factory is located in a civilized country where police has more authority than private guards and where labour union is allowed to exist (ironically "communist" China has banned labour union activity). Because otherwise you really do get this:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/sports-firms-pledge-to-end-child-labour-1365314.html

Nowadays the problem is for example factory worn jeans. You know, unworn (uniform dark blue or black) are very unfashionable. Because of that, they need to be sanded. And that causes severe lung diseases in countries like Turkey. It may not be children but if the father dies at age of 30-40 for a respiratory disease, that is not-a-nice-thing.

If we want to discuss the phone, ignoring brand image, then anything about clothing industry has nothing to do with it, obviously.

fohfoh:
Why the hell are people so damn angry in this thread?

It's a brand. It's not the first time.

Armani and Prada already have phones.

Nokia came out with a high end one called Vertu which is expensive as fucking hell but damn amazing looking phones.

And if anyone wants to bitch about an expensive phone that doesn't do much... try looking at the motorola AURA. THAT is more overpriced than any piece of technology I have EVER seen. Even moreso than the likes of Apple or Sony or anyone else by a HUGE margin. (IMO)
