Warcraft Cataclysm
« on: May 01, 2010, 03:48:19 PM »
Anyone (whoever plays WoW) excited about the new changes thats gonna take place once the expasion is released in Nov 2010? Im sort of excited that Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines will now have Lvl 85 heroic instances added. Plus that the Barrens will now have a split lvl monsters. High 80s in the northern barrens while the southern area will remain the same.

ICC was a great addition, but Cataclysm - I'm not so sure even that can get me back.

They started dumbing down stats too much, and increased simplification - then things which are truly annoying ( infini-fear for warlocks for example ) - they leave in.

The game kinda really died for me ... after I leave it for a week.

I guess if they had more RPG and less XBox in WoW - maybe they could get me back.
Nothing.

Have to say my desire to play again was much, much greater back in Vanilla, BC was good too, more or less, but everything went down with the last addon and the next one doesn't make things better...

The last time i quit was in WotLK and i didn't miss the game after a few days... Not the same as in Vanilla
For me i'll have to say that i won't play WoW anymore, it's not the nice game that it was with Vanilla... Imho you can really see that Activision-Blizzard doesn't care about their customers who really liked the game and only want to get a few more customers who play a few hours per month but pay.

Blizzard itself isn't the nice gameproducer anymore like it was 10years ago.

It can go either way actually......since they are bringing back a boss from the Warcraft series as the main boss. Not to mention the so called next Lich King if its introduced in the next patch or two or in another expansion pack in itself. I find the game itself pretty fun, though very time consuming.

WoW died for me when I had to run Naxx again in WotLK. Healing is also boring as fuck. It used to take some skill to heal properly with the 5 second rule, downranking (why oh why did you remove this blizzard), and healing rotations. (vanilla WoW) Oh and went the game got dumbed down to nothing too. I've heard ICC is better, but I'm not a fan of arbitrary content blocks. Herp derp, we can't make content too hard or people will complain about the difficulty and how they can't get easy purples. So we make content that's easy with optional "hard modes" but then these good players clear the instance in 1 week. I know! Let's just make it impossible to clear by not having it in fully in the game yet.

Edit: I've been following some of the Cataclysm changes and nothing looks particularly interesting to me. I would be lying if I didn't admit to wanting to level one more character to 60 before the zone changes happen.. I can't imagine what it'd be like if I actually cared about the game still.

yeah like for instance Shadowfang Keeps lvl 85 heroic in Cataclysm. There are some really tight areas with an avg 4-5 mobs. Also Ragnaros from Molten Core reappears in a different raid, I dont know exactly where. Also the Black War Bear mount which is currently set at the 4 heroes. But will that change to 5 since two new races are introduced? Its gonna mess up a few ppls acheivement progressions. Also quest acheivements will no doubt be changed also with hundreds more that have been added in the upcoming expansion pack. Im still upset Horde didnt get the Worgen :(

They've been moving from a stack stam tanking philosophy to making tanks more active / cooldown based. I would guess their plan is to have tanks use their cooldowns in a smart, efficient manner to be able to successfully tank boss encounters in Cataclysm. They've been moving towards that in Wrath and will most likely continue down that road.

I bet, no.....Im sure there will be alot of horde/alliance raids on capital cities since flying mounts will now be able to be used in Kalimdoor and Eastern Kingdoms. I just wish blizz stopped putting out pets/mounts that a whole mess of people wants and show it off. Like Lil XT and the Celestial Steed that was out recently. Those were and are real annoying.

Im not sure but I heard that DK's might be able to tank in Blood aspect. I wonder how their new ability Dark Similacrum (however its spelled) is gonna be since its supposed to be like a reflect type spell.

Frost was built for more like boss/mob tankings (3 or more) Blood tanks while all possible, its real easy to lose aggro while in blood.

I do think its interesting that they're gonna change the map layout and open up the maelstrom. . .but I think after lich king (even after burning crusade) warcraft just went downhill . . .at least for me.

and Cataclysm. . .well I believe its  just another expansion piece of crap that will just make you "buy-or-die"

you dont know how pissed i was when I saw a 3 man onixya. . .I mean i used to be on an organized guild. . .we had to arrange once a week 40 peeps to kill that dragon. . .and burning crusade gear can make you kill it with 3 peeps. . .I even heard a hunter soloed ragnaros. . .its just sad.

Only thing I'm not liking about Cataclysm is, "LOL LETS MAKE THE GAME SO CASUAL THAT YOU GET THE SAME GEAR IN 10 MANS AS YOU DO IN 25 MANS."

Right now the expansion was extremely easy in general.  Don't bring up the fucking idiotic argument that, "If the game is so easy, why haven't you killed Lich King on 25 heroic?"  Gee, calling the game hard when there were about five or six encounters that were difficult.  Firefigher, Yogg+0, Algalon (not really hard, just had a small time limit), Freya +3, Anub 25 heroic, and Putricide 25 heroic with the appropriate gear level.

Right now with the 15% ICC buff, every hard mode is a fucking JOKE.

Frost was built for more like boss/mob tankings (3 or more) Blood tanks while all possible, its real easy to lose aggro while in blood.

Not really, try reading up on it sometime.  Only thing nice about Frost is that it has great snap agro from KM & Rime procs, plus brings 20% haste if there's no enhancement shaman.

It just all depends on who plays the DK. I myself have seen Blood DKs tank pretty good. Most people at least new to WoW think Tanks are the ones with insano high DEF and HP with stam gemmed armor pcs.

Actually, not everything is becoming easier in Cataclysm. 5-man content, at least, seems to be reverting to something closer to how it was back in TBC - that is, 5-man instances will have more bosses (Uldum, for example, will have 7) and they'll require crowd control again. No more of this mindless AOEing everything down stuff.

Also, didn't they say that the loot dropped in 25-mans, while being the "same items" will be scaled up (and thus still better rewards)? I could have sworn I read that in the post.

And by the way, you won't need to purchase Cataclysm to gain a large amount of its content... you will have to for worgen and goblins of course, but they have confirmed that the zone changes that are happening are happening for everyone, regardless if you have the expansion or not.

Besides that, the graphics are getting quite a boost... I mean look at this!

No, they're going to be the same items. In 25 man you just get more items. 5 man content was.. hard in BC? The only time it was hard was pre heroic nerfs. Shattered Halls or Underbog anyone?

I didn't say they were going to be hard, I said they were getting harder ;) basically, they probably won't be particularly difficult, but players won't be able to just run through at lightspeed without paying attention either. Trash pulls will needs CC again and it will take a little bit of time dedication to run an instance.
