the first boss minion is piss easy, his hp is relatively low, you can sacrifice the dps and have all ranged dps just nuke him, that is how we always do it, the biggest annoyance is the exploding minion on third boss, a fail there is painful.
i think grim Batol is one of the 3 heroics where you simply must do perfect before doing a raid, at least once do a perfect stroll, and it should be a pug, menage that, and you shouldn't have much problems with most raids, as Grim Batol, Deadmines and Stonecore (all bosses) usually can't be scored perfect, there is always one fail somewhere on the road, but those three can be cleared with a perfect score, and it is so satisfying to do so. :)

Generally with a bad or an okay PuG, we skip the third boss and head over the fourth boss. The fourth boss seems to be the issue for most low DPS users. So I stick two of them on one of the adds, and I get on the other one. I kill the one that's on the right side facing the doorway (not facing the boss). I kill my add before it passes those big chains on the ground, or rather before they pass the formed tiles. Colossus Smash FTW!
Havoc10K:
well i'm a caster so it's far easier for me to bring one down while the rest dps the other one.
I don't like boss skipping unless i'm low on time :P

I feel I've carried pugs through heroic Grim Batol. This was way before they nerfed them.
I provided two CC's, fear and banish, every pull. Keep the malignant trogg feared so another never respawns and we can just pew pew. And on final boss, I glyph shadowflame so right after shadowgale I can teleport to the adds and give them both a 50% reduction in speed, with talents in my conflag also slowing them.
When people learn to bomb only the necessary areas and to quickly switch to adds, it becomes one of the easier heroics, IMO. Though now with better equipped puggers, we are often skipping many mechanics on bosses already, and we haven't even reached the next tier set yet.
I no longer play WoW, but some interesting things to be released in 4.1. Us locks needed more love ;)
