While that's true at least to some extent, some aspects about Vanilla were indeed better. One of the best examples I can think of was the community - yeah, there were assholes then and there are assholes now, but I can't help but feel that they're much more numerous these days. Server communities were also closer, and a person could easily become widely known for their exploits, good and bad alike - you developed a reputation quickly. Even in battlgrounds, there'd always be that one opposite faction character that you had a bone to pick with. Now though? It's all random faces. You'd be lucky to run into the same person twice.
People were tons more patient, too. I remember Strat, Scholo, and UBRS runs that would take upwards of an hour and a half to two hours and a number of wipes, yet the members of the group would usually stick around until you finished the instance (unless it really got that unbearably bad). Now? Wipe once and half your group has left, and the other half doesn't know how to get from the graveyard to the instance portal since they leveled the entire way to 80 while sitting queued in Stormwind -_-

I understand this but that's what happens when something becomes "popular" - more people use it. The percentage of assholes is probably about the same still, they're just the only ones that ever speak. Normal folks keep to themselves and their guilds and leave trade chat unless they're looking for something and are willing to sift through that shithole.
I think your BG scenario may be very dependant on your battlegroup. I play on Thrall and at all levels I tend to que up and find myself having a very personal (at least on my side) battle with some jackass I can't get away from.
Once again, with increased numbers typically results in increased idiots and more of a "what have you done for me lately" type deal. I know on Thrall (where my main is) one wipe in a PUG typically is the end of it. It's frustrating and a big reason why I am in some level of support of the new 10/25 man changes that are coming (being an officer in a 10 man guild). I won't feel penalized for not wanting to put up with that bull shit.

I play on Grizzly Hills.....and our guild has 2 10 man ICC teams with a 3rd with others that werent able to fit into the first two.....plus the members from the 1st two teams' alts. and 2 25 man teams comprised of all guild members who want to run. Pugs are generally ridden with low gearscored players who dont know what to do, unless theyre from a reputable guild. Those tend to end up in failure. When Cataclysm comes out, you have another increased raid buff in ICC 10/25 for those who havent already gotten past the 3 wings after the Storming The Citadel wing.

Right now the expansion was extremely easy in general. Don't bring up the fucking idiotic argument that, "If the game is so easy, why haven't you killed Lich King on 25 heroic?" Gee, calling the game hard when there were about five or six encounters that were difficult. Firefigher, Yogg+0, Algalon (not really hard, just had a small time limit), Freya +3, Anub 25 heroic, and Putricide 25 heroic with the appropriate gear level.
Right now with the 15% ICC buff, every hard mode is a fucking JOKE.

Not really, try reading up on it sometime. Only thing nice about Frost is that it has great snap agro from KM & Rime procs, plus brings 20% haste if there's no enhancement shaman.

pretty sure he meant presence not specs
TorturdChaos:
I used to think I couldn't live w/o WoW, but these last couple weeks I haven't really played at all with buying a house and moving and painting and all the fun that goes with it - plus getting a Starcraft 2 beta key. But I don't have a huge desire to play any more. A few friends I used to log in to play with have stopped playing, and I'm even thinking of dropping my WoW account.
So if you had asked me like 4 or 5 weeks ago what I thought of Cataclysm, I would have been pumped for it. Now im kinda on the fence. I mean I don't think I will drop my WoW account yet just because I want to down the lich king atleast once. But after that I will have to see where I am.
As for the actual counted on Cataclysm idk, I kinda excited for the changes, but scared of how simplistic they are making everything. I kinda like having my gaming tailored for serious gamers. When you dumb it down for casual gamers, it starts to ruin the challenge for us serious gamers. I don't mind pouring over spread sheets, and reading elitest jerks therocrafting for hours to get the scoop on the newest min max's for my class. But now they will dumb it down some much it wont matter :(. I'm hoping that Blizzard will still keep some of the hardcore element so they can appeal to both casual and serious gamers, but the trend they are following right now with WotLK doesn't look to promising.
But at this point I am going to see how I feel about WoW after I get back into when I'm done moving. If i'm still having fun in Oct/Nov I will get Cataclysm. Come next year tho when I have my new HDTV I may get serious back into console gaming, and my computer will feel very much abandoned.
