Warcraft Cataclysm

I feel your pain ... You were in the wrong guild, probably. There are guilds that don't care so much about raiding and they go in there to have fun. Some guilds with leaderships that don't understand if you want to be a serious raider and knock bosses quickly, you gotta be on your A game and the other 9/24 members need to do the same. And then you got your hardcore guilds led by smart commanders and officers with smart players.

Hmm probably, we were like semi serious guild, not up there with the elite guilds who like force their members to play all the time/have ridiculous internet/computer speeds, but just below that. Our 25 man had a few people who weren't that amazing which let the team down but that was only a couple of nights a weeks, our 10 man team was pretty good and we cleared 10 bosses in not that long a time.

I think playing just as the raid came out wasn't that great as the longer its been open the better gear people had and the easier it got, also we didn't have the 5% boost until near the end of my playing (what's it on now like 20%? :D) which meant loads of wipeing and drilling in tactics as there was no room for error most of the time. It was fun feeling elite but the monotony soon overruled and other fun I was having. But yeah next time i'd join a more fun guild that only raids a couple of nights

Also I wasn't that keen on the pvp which was probably an error as I was so used to diablo2 pvp'ing, ie teleing around rapeing everyone who comes near you and it just didn't compare

DLTE:
Back when I was playing, all we had per week was ToC

Clear ToC25 earn gdkp points and triumph , go on to clear ToC10 for extra badges ( This was before welfare T9 ) and then login next week, rinse and repeat.

Our problem in our guild is we do have "clickers" and some slow people. The clickers are very fast and long time members (smart members too). The slow people, we notice them and replace them. The thing is, we don't kick people out (lol yes we're not hardcore) and we raid about 5 nights for 25 mans putting in 3-4 hours. We're 9/12 heroic icc 25 with 11/12 heroic icc 10 man. Progression wise is good. Then you've got your smart members who are insanely good (god-like!) so really it depends on the leadership.

If anything, look for a leader and officers that understand what it takes to make a guild and to progress. Soft leaders and officers end up failing doing progression raids. There are people out there that don't mind wiping sixty thousand times on a fight they've done countless of times and downed the boss. It all comes down to management. If you have your leaders and officers and that do press progression AND influence other people to do the same, PLUS recruit and keep skilled players then that is the guild you want to join. If your officers don't really care or don't show any type of work to recruit or influence others or keep "pausing" around then yea, that's a fail guild.

We don't use DKP or any of that stuff. One token and one epic per night. Usually it is a roll off or it will go to someone who can benefit from it the most (and is a core raider, of course).

I'm currently taking a break from the game until Cataclysm comes out.  I was in a US Top 35 guild for the past few months, and still am, but I can't raid 7-12 every day of the week during progression nights while having school, a job, and still hanging out with friends.

Clicking won't get your very far.  I dare someone who clicks to do a fight which you can't do with yours eyes closed and the 30% buff carrying most of your raid.  Can you say Heroic: Halion 25?  GG @ 4 WAY DEATHBEAMS LOL

I prefer a loot council for guilds that aren't full of skilled players, so the tool who keyboard turns, clicks, dies to stupid shit, and pulls piss poor damage doesn't gets an upgrade over you.  Otherwise if you're in a guild who know what the fuck you're doing, I would prefer DKP since everyone is almost equally skilled.

Try going for a Tribute to Insanity every week on 25 heroic (with appropriate gear level of course), then tell me if you actually experience end game content.
