I just started playing this summer, and haven't done any raids yet. I'm almost at the point where I have to start raiding to get better gear. I'm definitely still learning but I am decent. it's hard to know how well your doing when your doing an instance where people are putting up 5 ~6 k dps, and I can only get as high as 3k when i'm doing well. usually about 2 ~ 2.5 k.
The name is Sanatarium. and I haven't PvP'ed yet either but I hear paladins are monsters at it. send me a letter in game if you are interested in raiding together.
you also need to keep in mind in addition to what was already said that depending on the style of dps you do and how your class deals damage in 5 mans and small runs especially you may see substantially less DPS then other classes as opposed to what your damage might be in raids where there is aoe or longer boss battles.
Explanation - For instance my DK i have dpsed as pretty much every spec on my dk so its easy for me to explain with this.
DW frost spec(9-12k dps raid bosses) - is a spec that relies heavily on a debuff stacking and then heavy hits and procs happening in the rotation. So in short if something dies in 2 or 3 hits i lose A LOT of dps.
Unholy(9-12k dps raid bosses) - Uses diseases to allow pretty much all my strikes to hit harder, again if things die before i get to my hard hitting strikes my dps goes down the shitter.
---------- IMO for the longest time i put up much better numbers in raid and especially in boss fights with these two specs then i could with Blood but generally did bad in 5 mans unless i put forth a lot of effort - dont know about recently since i havent played in a couple months ----------------------------
Blood - like unholy diseases up = more damage however i can be lazy and ignore that and still hit shit like a truck and hit 2 targets at a clip with one of the most used abilities in my rotation. So in short in 5 mans my DPS looks a lot better a lot easier.
But generally i would be roughly around 8k dps in raid with this spec
