zombie invasion
« on: May 11, 2010, 12:52:45 PM »
If suddenly, out of f*cking nowhere, zombie invasion would start, what would you do?

How would you prepare for it? What would be your chances to survive as long as possible?

Also, if you would be at home in your room (on computer) and suddenly "thousands" of some zombies (say 2-4) zombies would spawn into your room, what would be your weapon to fight against them (until you can escape and get better weapons..)?
(NOTE: It must be something you can find in your room. I really doubt you have ak47 under your bed with unlimited bullets.)

Also if you feel like, you can fill this zombie survival -sheet

Nothing.  My room is far too small for thousands of zombies to spawn in, and the chances of survival are approaching 0%.

However, If I had the option to pick a weapon, I'd go for my bass guitar.

..

same here

and most likely my weapon would be long umbrella that I usually use to close door after my cat who invade my room something like 1000 time a day...

[edit] as for a plan, I think this could work...

Ok maybe I exaggerated with the "thousands of zombies". But example like a few (2-4) zombies spawns to your room, would you be able to survive?

*Sigh* Second time I have to type this out.

I probably wouldn't survive very long as I'd go berserk and try to kill as many as possible before dieing and.or becoming one. And as for the weapon...whether you believe me or not....I have two choices, a cricket bat and a Jo Staff (Which yes, I know the basics on how to use it), they are right next to my bed. I'm slightly paranoid for no reason so lemme alone.

Side note post number 13! Unlucky Number.

Well #1 zombies would not just "spawn in my room" i'd prolly have some warning.
But for arguments sake, lets say they do.  I have a 3 foot machete next to my bed that would most likely be my first choice, also i got a 5 foot walking staff in the corner.
and before anyone asks, yes, the machete's purpose for being next to my bed is for zombie attack.

also in terms of surviving, one of my first stops would be hardware store/sporting goods store (assuming that my stash has been taken out) pick up some weapons and high energy density food.  then camp out on one of the water towers, reason is, zombies cannot climb ladders (they just don't have the coordination or flexibility in their limbs to do it).  only really need to stay there for about a week or so because by that time vigour mortis will set in causing the zombies to be essentially frozen in place.

most of this is optimistic but better that than pessimistic

I'd throw my ps3, xbox 360, and laptop at them. They're pretty heavy and my laptop is almost as heavy as a computer tower. they'd crush a zombies delicate rotting flesh.

There's also hitting them with the xbox 360 power brick like a flail. Those things can kill a normal person. In all honesty though I think I would die. I'm strong but not exactly fast and all it takes is one little wound from them to pretty much end you even if you kill them all.

^What he said. It's almost impossible for me defeat 2-4 zombies in my room without getting scratched by them or bitten...I also have no weapons in my room. Maybe the Eiffel Tower souvenir, which is, when held upside down, some kind of deformed mace.

If I made it though, I would run across my hallway and take the katana and the other smaller blade (forgot it's name). And then I would probably... grab a lot of food and stuff and get out of the city with my bicycle.
Yeah, no car for me, since everyone is probably using a car to get out of the city and roads might be blocked. And cars work on gasoline.
Am I taking this too seriously?

There are three things that could happen
  • Fall off my chair in shock, scream like a little girl then die cowering in the corner screaming and crying in terror.
  • Not even notice them until it's to late and just die screaming and crying.
  • Or throw anything I can at them at a desperate attempt to save myself, can you kill a zombie with a pillow?
Either way, I'm screwed. :'(

Fast virus infected human "zombies" or shambling, slow undead zombies?

If the former... give up all hope for you have lost. They've got faster reactions than you do and outnumber you.

The latter... I'd just run, my room in my house has no really convenient weapons. I'd try to make it to the base (about a 30 minute walk from my house) and arm up there.

One thing I would not do is get a Rent-a-zilla. I saw how well that worked (or rather, didn't) in Megatokyo.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

My room's too small to use my bow, so I'd use my hunting knife or fencing sabre as they're closest.

I got loads of machetes ready to use, plus a pump shotgun loaded with 12Gs, you definitely need a shotgun for zombies.

If it was my room then I have my bar for my weights. Things solid metal that would be pretty brutal. Though frist thing i'd do is flee to my car and drive off as far as possible.

If it was slow shambling zombies you get in resident evil then military would fucking exterminate them np (you think slow moving, noisy corpses are going to beat heavily armed troops? Seriously?). But if it was the super strong, super fast type of Zombie it would be a whole diffrent situation. I suppose though the only thing that could be done would be to copy fallout and hide our un-infected people inside vaults (Aka underground nuclear bunkers).

If it happened in my room
  • Throw random stuff at them and escape or die
  • Use axe and a lighter to light them up and escape or die (Either killing them or making them evolve to burning zombies)
  • Die

If it happened outside, I'd probably survive because of my parkour, running and melee weapon skills.
Best place to survive would be a huge mall with restaurants (Dead Rising style). That way you have means to survive and attack. It's funny because my friends and I were in a mall and we were talking about this and my job would be cook and and defend, lol.

I have a katana in my room, but I have high doubts it'd be useful for long periods of time since it's not a battle ready katana. I might get through the first 2 or so and afterwards, I'm just waiting for a break. I have a green pole in a room beside mine. It's a wooden thing that I salvaged from an old school Christmas tree. It works for basic beatings.

Really would go towards a Jr Baseball bat though. Full size break slightly easier IMO. Not to mention the Jr bat is easier to wield.

Crow bar isn't bad, but for fighting purposes, it's rather unwieldly.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

not quite under the bed, but meh.

Note: Not my actual sleeping bed, that ones in my workshop that I use to hammer parts out w/o scratching or bending.

I don't have anything in my room that can be used as a weapon... I wouldn't risk fighting them bare-handed, so I would smash them with a chair and then jump out of the window (I live on the 1st floor). Hmmm, maybe I should get a crowbar, paint it red and put it under the bed, just in case =)

Well 2-4 no problem,10 +, I'd run out of pre loaded ammo, and would have to make it the 15'ish feet to the closet, where I have more shells, and a machety, and more loaded guns. But as long as the numbers are below 100, I'd be okay, I make it a policy to never be more than 5 steps roughly 15 feet (yeah i take big steps 6'6) from something I could kill someone with.
