@lapa321:
Which video decoder are you using? If you're on windows 7, definitely use the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video decoder in Media Player Classic Homecinema.

Yeah, it's pretty much the *only* decoder that works. Neither my desktop nor netbook accelerates on anything else on 1080p. Hover i'm getting artifacts on quite a few videos and the updated drivers didn't seem to help. I'm just gonna keep trying out the settings :)

The latest directvobsub buffers all frames. Different behavior.

As in all the effects are shown but CPU usage is still reduced? Cool.

so basically my netbook does have a hard time with 1080p video when processing it directly. I set up my desktop to trans-code the on the file on the fly (almost like streaming) to my netbook.

First video was using the DivX h264 decoder. After that, i blocked it and set the Microsoft DTVDVD to preferred so i can use DXVA.

Any suggestions on how to get it to play properly?

I don't think CPU usage is reduced. Just kind of spread out. It can make things better or worse.

Here's Sora no Woto 720p running at 40% CPU.

Most anime here isn't coded to spec like that one tho, so i keep ending up with the Haruhi Suzumiya Video i posted. I'm still trying to find a way to get it to work!

lapa321: Just stick with Media Player Classic Homecinema and the DivX H.264 Video Decoding filter. Is it lagging when you use that?

Also, try different video/GPU drivers if you still want to get DXVA working properly.

That's how it's setup at the moment, but it's using almost all of my CPU.

As you can see from the screenie, i have two monitors, i was hoping to be able to leave it running in one while i work on the other.

Using about half your CPU? At least it doesn't seem as bad as it could be.

As above, try the latest ATi video/GPU drivers if you still want to get DXVA working properly.

Also, in MPC-HC you can press '1' to get borderless video and you can press ALT + 1-3 to get different sized video.

edit: not sure where you can get such drivers. you might need to mod them for the netbook.

Actually, someone mentioned that 10.2+ drivers for DXVA are broken so i uninstalled my current 10.4's and installed 10.1's.

1080p on a 22" broke (Still decodes regular h264's fast, if not faster, but i now have to lower my 22" resolution to keep the 1080p Iron Man video from slowing down), but artifacting for most of the videos are fixed. CPU usage dropped from 30's down to 20's. The Haruhi suzumiya video is now 15-20%, but goes up to 50% when subtitles are enabled. Summer Wars 1080p won't play at all now.

This is on the u230 netbook.

D*mn, nVidia still has a legup on ATI on software support :-\

I can't really help you much on ATi, I too haven't gotten my HD3650 to play things properly.

Update.

Unless they come out with better drivers, Anime on the u230 is kinda hopeless. The only 1080p anime i have that it can play is Advent Children :-\

Just play it on the CPU. Try without DXVA.

I did. The one in the video has 1080p stuttering continiously without DXVA. That applies to all my 1080ps. And while 720p does work fine in software, between that and uTorrent, it doesn't leave much for anything else.

Is there any chance that this will be fixed in a future driver? Or is it a hardware issue. If it is, i'm gonna have to sell this and get an ION.

Unfortunately, you can only hope. ATi seem to be getting closer each month, though breaking some things as well.

I think I heard that there is a driver that has HD video playing fine with DXVA and SD broken.
