Red Dead Redemption
« on: May 20, 2010, 05:13:52 AM »
Anyone else get this game yet? I just finished up the main story. The ending was just ... wow. This is definitely one of the best games I've ever played. The story was amazing!

BTW, after the main story is over, go back to Blackwater. Accept the stranger mission at the train station to get the real ending. The game doesn't prompt you to go there or tell you that there is more to the story in any way.

Have it.  Awesome game.

One thing I'd like to slap a developer across the face for:  horses + water.

It's obvious that these guys are a bunch of asses who have never seen or ridden a horse.

Seriously?  Water kills horses?   Really?

No it doesn't.

Ours cross streams, walk in the shallow river we got here - no problem.  ( The one I use in game - looks like one of ours. :P )    I don't know why they did what they did.

And a bonus here:  horses can swim.   Naw, really?  Yes really.   *facepalm*

They also do come to a whistle.  ;)    Takes training though.   And a shitload of treats.

For that minor defect, I shall give a negative 0.1.  9.9/10.    Other than that, I think Rockstar has found a kinda neglected genre (western) that KICKS SOME HUGE FUCKING ASS!   This is one pretty perfect game - if you don't have it, what's your problem?   Get out there and get it.
Nothing.

I never went into the water with a horse until toward the end when you have to heard cattle through a stream. The horse didn't die.  ???

I think it's if they wander towards the water while unmounted.

Nothing.

WTF are they? Lemmings? I keep hearing about this game, but I haven't picked it up yet.

If you don't tie them to a hitching post, they tend to wander. Sometimes they will follow you, even if they have to cross a river or jump off a cliff to get to you. You just have to wait a minute and then whistle for a horse, and a new one will just magically come running from over the horizon.

I think my horsey is retarded >.<.When I go to a wanted spot, I unmount and try to sneak closer to the f*ckers. Well, it seems horsey here doesen't agree with my strategy *sobs*, since he follows me and alerts the damn bandits. Then, after he's done with pinpointing my exact location to 10 sweaty angry men with guns, he runs like a b*tch, leaving me to my impending doom.
Why horsey?WHY?! :'(

So the game is worth buying?

It looked kind of cheap(IMO) for a Rockstar game, But from the reviews it seems rather nice.

played at a mates house and well... It was good, I guess ???

It's like GTA without planes and stuff, but then... it isn't. It's tough to describe, but I leik it; althought I do like most "ol' west" style things

I rarely play Live anyway, so it wouldn't really matter.

But I will flash it with one of the latest that is suppose to be Live safe, kind of doubt it though.

It's not "Live safe" at all, but if you know what you are doing, you may be lucky (like me, 2 years of playing burnt games and no ban). You should always check your .iso file with abgx to make sure it's stealth patched. Also, never ever play a game before its official release date!
That being said, if you liked the game and feel like playing it more, buy it, some games are more than worth it.

i hear the game itself is fucking awesome. However the storyline section is fuckin weak. But if thats what your buying this game for its the wrong game for you. The sandbox features are most of what you play when you buy a game like this.

I had fun with Yakuza 3, but I'm too lazy to grab RDR. But I'm not huge on westerns.

The story itself won't take you too long to beat (maybe around 15-20hrs) which isn't including side missions. With sidequests there's more to it, but the actual story itself could've been better without me ruining anything about it. If you buy it the reason will be the free-roaming online with friends and killing other innocent players.

I've gotten kind of bored of it seeing as once you beat the story you don't have the drive to continue the game, at least not for me.
