you dont burn anime to disks, you download it from bakabt
You do if you have a HD the size of mine. In some areas more than others, size does matter. ;D

Verbatim is highly recommended, and on the other end of the scale people will tell you to avoid Memorex, especially the spindles. When I can't find Verbatim, I use Sony.

im beginning to think that dvds might be a bad idea for storing anime.. guess maybe i should drop this topic and ask what recomendations in choosing hdds.. 1 terra is a bit too much.. mayber less than 500gb is fine... ill use the recomended dvds for temporary storage for the mean time until i save up some money.  :) again thanks for advice ;)
If you pick the right discs and store them properly, they'll have long, uneventful life. I have hundreds of discs burned 5 years ago and they still work.

As I've posted before, don't base your purchases on the brand. Verbatim Value Series looks similar to the non-value ones (you can separate the two only by looking at a few lines on the printed side). Guess who makes the value series discs: CMC Magnetics, which is the same manufacturer of the Memorex brand you mentioned. CMC Magnetics manufactures discs for Imation, TDK, Memorex, Philips among the popular brands.

I prefer to use external hard drives. I have 5 of them and 3 are filled with nothing but anime so about 700gb of anime in total, I even rip my dvds to my hard drives incase the discs get scratched. If the dvd gets scratched you're SOL. but if you are gonna just burn them for use in a dvd player then go ahead, but having your files backed up on an external hard drive is a good idea.

I'm currently copying my 200+ collection of DVD+Rs to my HDD. Trust me when I say that DVD+Rs (as well as DVD-R) don't last forever. I use Verbatim because I hear they are the best. Part of my problem may be that I used a sharpy to lable the disks, but nearly half of all disks have some corruption. I haven't checked the most recent ones (those made within the past 18 months), but the ones I have been aren't looking so good. Newer ones (2 years old) were labled using a special marker by the way.

..but what speed did you burn them at?
Kaoru + Aoi + Shiho = Infinity
For video playback: madVR + CCCP 2011-11-11 (use the bundled version of MPC-HC)

The slowest possible, whatever that was.

Considering the "permanent" marker has been rubbed off on many of the oldest disks, its clear that it didn't soak into the burnable layer. I don't think the sharpy is at fault (although I have spent about 12 dollars on special markers so far). Also, I've buffed scratches out so it is the medium. It has rotted. and I have lost some hard to find anime (old stuff).
