**RECOMMENDED BLANK DVD FOR BURNING ANIME**

Depending where you live somewhere it's still a lot more affordable to buy storage dvds then storage hds...
A good judge of quality is the price... Usually the pricier they are...

For safer burning you should use from 4x to 8x speed like namaiki mentioned.

yup...hdds are very pricey.. I have collected only a few anime torrents..  and my hdd have only a 150gb.. so the best choice for is to buy a good quality dvd..  thanks for the advice...  ;)

I'd use a hard drive. The $/GB ration is more favorable. Use DVDs to story parity data and than put paraity data for the DVD on a drive different from the one the DVD is backing up.

well thats good and well if you just want somewhere to keep your files, but the bonus in using discs is you can take them to a friends house, load them onto another pc or watch them on a TV (dependent on the format) or you can loan out a disc, you cant loan out an entire hard drive quite as simply as a DVD disc...So thats why I keep most of my stuff on a DVD *aswell* as my computer.

Don't base your purchase decisions on brand names.

Manufacturers of certain brands of discs differ depending on location. For example, TDK Gold DVDs (both +/-R) sold in my country are made by either of these manufacturers: CMC Magnetics and Taiyo Yuden. Taiyo Yuden produces some of the best discs in the world while CMC Magnetics' quality varies. CMC Magnetics is the same manufacturer of brands like Imation and Memorex (fyi: all three are brands are owned by Imation). Both are sold at about 25 USD per 100 pcs.

Another example are the BenQ discs are recently bought. The discs are sold at about 20 USD per 100 discs. At first I thought the discs were just an ok purchase. When I checked who made those discs, I was in for a big surprise: the discs were made by Mitsubishi Chemicals (Verbatim). This made my purchase a really good deal. I've also thought of the possibility of the discs were fake but the chances of them being one are very slim.
