Search bar
« on: May 28, 2010, 09:44:40 PM »
The search bar is seemingly bugged. It will not search right. Each time I search, whatever I have checked uncheck themselves and do not search what I typed in. I can find a torrent via a user profile, but when I search said torrent (and check everything), it will not come up. I have everything uncensored, yada yada. I've tried this in 3 different browsers, all with the same effect. Why is it not finding what I want, and why does it keep unchecking the boxes?

The dropdown menu above the searchbar, where it reads "Tags", is it set on 'Only'? If so, select 'Also' instead...

What are you trying to search?

Edit; Have to agree the search is a bit fiddle... When choosing categories and expecting results from only those, one gets results from all the categories instead, however you do get results in only one category if you click on a category* name beside its checkbox...
As for 'Only', it seems you can't have all boxes checked for it to work, that's the best I could figure out... Even here, if you get it to work, you have to click a category* name instead to narrow the results into that category...

...*However in both cases one has to do a general search first of the search term, as clicking the category name only acts on the search term already executed, not on the one you might have just typed...

I would like to point out that the check boxes beside the filters (i.e. soundtrack, manga, anime) actually does nothing =P

Not really sure why they're there, lol. But yea, to filter - you have to click the filter, and not check the box. Sorta annoying since you can't search for manga and anime at the same time though ;<

Known error, the checks boxes used to work, but not currently for quite a while now.  You have to change your user settings in order to display certain categories as a work around.

The category filtering by clicking it's name corresponds to inserting a "cat=x" into the search url string;

Code: [Select]
http://bakabt.me/browse.php?only=0&cat=1&hentai=1&incomplete=1&lossless=1&hd=1&multiaudio=1&bonus=1&q=searchterm
(cat1=series)

...however I've been unable to change the url in such a way  it would consider more than just one category (not counting omitting it and thus getting results from all categories...).

Edit; Seems the noparse tags work, but leave the tags visible?

The Noparse code is for the site. I think what happened here is that putting the code tags there broke up the URL. I changed it to a code tag.

Yeah, I have also set in the dropdown.

So basically, what I need to do is type what I want in the search box and then click the associated category link (instead of the check box)?

This is on our to-fix list, so hopefully in future you won't need to do that.
