there are several "official" side manga which basically tells a story as touhou, as I like to call it, "is a world that creates stories" rather than the general story, which creates the world around it.

There is the "world" of Gensoukyo (touhou world) and there are MANY "stories" within it, basically every official game is another "story" or, "incident" that occurs, the manga can either be another of these "incidents" (eg, Silent Sinner in Blue) or it can be something that just happens in everyday Gensoukyo life with no real story (eg, Oriental Sacred Place)

k here's a good way to compare the size of touhou

think of an anime with the largest fanbase you know of

now multiple the fanbase by 10x, then try to imagine half of those fans making music, art, games, or the like for it.

you're starting to somewhat imagine what touhou is like.

then the actual material (official)

imagine the most complex, most diverse, most intense and expanded world you know of in a fictional setting

now multiple the intensity, extensiveness, and expansiveness by about 100x, and you start to understand the scale of the touhou world.

there you go :P

Ha... oh man don't even get me started on that.

I'm a long time FF fan, like, it was the first game I ever played (beat FFIV when I was 5)

Dude FF's fanbase is like, a freaking JOKE compared to touhous, like, you're comparing a newborn baby to a champion heavy weight lifter sort of JOKE

now you're comparing maybe a 5 year old to that champion weight lifter.
