blea friggin RROD
kyanwan:
Regular warranty is 1 year. RROD warranty is 3.
They're avoiding a massive lawsuit. ;) They know very well that their product is defective. They're smart by playing fair. Same thing happened here - just last week. The box here is 6 months out of standard - but still covered by RROD till 2012.
Always call in and try to get it serviced - you may end up surprised.

To transfer your profile (and everything associated with it) just connect to xbox live and select recover gamertag. Just remember that you can only get achievements on the console that you most recently recovered your gamertag on...so if you're switching consoles often it can be annoying. I don't know how to transfer save games, I've never tried, but I'm sure a google search will enlighten you :) As for DLC, you can just re-download it onto the new console through...account management, theres a DLC history section I think, and you can just go through that and re-download everything. But to be sure I'd go over xbox.com's faq or google for the pertinent info.

the DRM stuff isn't as easy as that. Unless they fixed it. If you switched the main console you were kinda boned. It locks DLC and stuff along that lines into not just your profile, but also the console it was originally d.loaded to (not just the HD)
So when your system ineveitably dies your kinda screwed. I think it will let you use the stuff if your on xbox live all the time but i am not. I remember hearing about a way to fix this manually but i cant for the life of me find the way now. Does anyone know how to do it?
or hell, did they just fix the whole DRM issue entirely? (highly doubtfull)

You just have to do a license transfer and possibly redownload all your stuff

Not sure how to do it, but I know it's doable.
You need some type of HDD cable. You connect to the older one and copy to the new?
My brother did this a few weeks ago.
