Someone who has a good system to sort their anime?
At first I thought that I would have all the anime in the ABC but I do not know what I see and not see. Then I thought about clear and not clear anime. but then you have to change it when you stake out an anime. And then you must always find its torrent file for seeding.

I keep the ones I have yet to watch of my desktop.

And all the watched animes in their separate folders inside one folder.
So when I want one I have to dig for a while, but I hate organizing things.

I keep all of my anime in a folder sorted alphabetically and I have a separate folder that has a bunch of shortcuts to my unwatched anime.

Uh... I used something called a brain. Honestly, it's not that difficult to know what you have and have not watched before. If not by name, then at least by the first 30 seconds of watching.

Well I use Vuze so i can assign torrent categories such as "watch", "save for a rainy day", "bonus points" this way all you have to do is keep your torrent client up and running so you can keep seeding and it will also allow you to keep track. But usually i just do what dbml does...

Only issue with the brain is remember which ep you're on. Otherwise, it's pretty close.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

Yeah, but then you have to actually search for what you haven't watched.

Or you could just use the recently played list on MPC.  It was like angels came down from heaven the day I found that :P

This is true, but only if you're watching several series at the same time. If you can't remember a single number... then you are in trouble :P

When I follow several airing series though, MAL is the easiest thing for me to keep track with. Just click a couple + signs after finishing the episode and blam! Done.

Yeah, but then you have to actually search for what you haven't watched.

Why is that a problem? Having to scan through a huge list of series is a great way to find a series that you weren't thinking of, that you really want to watch again.

If I want to re-watch a show, I'll look for one to re-watch.  Otherwise I'll just stick to the new stuff.  I tend to set aside a certain time to re-watch something, usually with friends involved(of course that is just me).

+1

I usually keep ongoing series' newest episodes in my Downloads folder. And when I am finished I check the episode for CRC errors one extra time and then transfer it to my 1TB external. It's a pain to watch many episodes from my 1TB so I usually transfer all the episodes I want to watch so I don't have to keep it on while watching. I'd like it to keep working for me for a few years. ;)

And as for my 1TB organisation system:

Nothing special really. I really can't arse myself to keep things in "watched" and "watching" folders and same with "ongoing", "incomplete" and "complete".

If you stall anime as much as me then it's a good thing to have a MAL or AP account to keep track of which episode you're on. I usually spend 5 min every week updating it and adding new shows I am watching.

Anyway, this is the way I do it, dunno if it's the most efficient, but I prefer it this way.

I sort it into 3 drives. One for downloading and seeding. One for watched series. One for unwatched series. From there its really just scanning through with your brain remembering which you have watched.

I also use MAL updater. I have it running in the background and its linked to my folders and online anime list. All I do is click 'Play Next' and it finds it and plays the next episode that I am up to. It then updates my list accordingly.

[MAL] | Nothing is either good nor bad but thinking makes it so.

I have a single 1.6 TB partition to hold anime and another smaller partition to use for anime I'm currently downloading. As soon as its been downloaded I move it to the larger partition. This keeps the larger drive from becoming fragmented. It also reduces the amount of wear on the drive, thus reducing the chances of it failing (typically my archival drive is powered down).

Shows that I am currently fallowing (that have not been finished) are left in the archival partion inside its own folder. For those that have been finished I have a directory for
manga
anime that I have not finished, but have completely downloaded
anime that I have finished watching and have completely downloaded
"limbo" for anime that I don't want to delete, but don't feel like completing
a directory for OVAs and movies
a directory for trailers
and a directory for AMVs

Additionally, the directory for anime that has been finished and watched has the sub directories.
0-D
E-I
J-N
O-S
T-Z

Within each of those are directories for each series. For anime that have discrete seasons there is a sub directory S1, S2, ...

Limbo isn't well organized. Movies aren't given their own directory, but OVAs are. The trailer directory has no organization.

Thats pretty much it.

For for which episode I've watched, I just use my memory if it hasn't been too long. If its been a while I tend to watch a bit of the beginning of the show to see if I've seen it before. Searching takes a minute at most.

I use anime-planet.com to keep track of what I'm actively watching, and I just update it immediately after watching an episode.  I have no trouble remembering which shows I'm watching, but for some reason I have a horrible time remembering episode numbers.  I usually watch episodes of two or three shows once or twice a week with my roommate, and we each have other shows that we watch on our own, so this works out pretty well for me.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

I have a watched and unwatched folder. For series that I'm watching, I put finished episodes in a "_done" folder inside the series folder. Is there a need to make it more complicated? Something I'm missing?
No one will care what I put in this form.

I have a Watched folder, and then an Unwatched folder which is split into Japanese and Dual Audio. When I choose to watch an anime it goes from my 1.5tb external to my macbook pro harddrive, then just gets deleted from the mac and moved into the Watched folder on my external. As I use XBMC to watch them it makes a note of the episodes I've seen anyway.

And for series's I've deleted/owned on DVD/borrowed from friends I use animeplanet to keep an overall list. :)
