How can i seed better?
« on: June 01, 2010, 05:19:35 AM »
I already downloaded a few animes and im correctly seeding.
One on my HD is 600 GB and im planning to make it just for Baka-BT seeding.
But i see in my torrent, that the seeding are barley starting....
And if it finally started its seeding in weeks and not in days or hours.

Is it a problem in my torrent program? is there anything i can do?

Thank you.

Its likely that the torrent you are trying to seed has far more seeders then lechers, and as a result not all of the seeders are able to seed. Otherwise, you may have a problem with your torrent client. If this is the case, then you'd be better served by looking for support on the clients website.

Edit: The ETA in the seeding column is actually just saying how long it will take at the given upload speed for you to seed an amount equal to the size of the file.

Search for popular torrents if you want to maximize upload bandwidth.

Keeping less popular and less seeded torrents alive would be more useful in my opinion.

Hmm... ok i think i just download first the less popular torrents and then ill download the ones that i really need.

--------------------------------

Hmmm...i adopted a few animes also... [more then 5], and i have a few more on the way, and still.... almost no uploading...

Isמt it kinda silly to say to adopt a lower seeded anime? because i see that there is barley someone downloading this animes... no people downloading = no uploading also...

So isnt it the same case like with the high seeded animes?

EDIT - newy: posts merged - NO DOUBLEPOSTS!

Uhmm...
You adopted? You probably mean you're seeding some torrents on BakaBT now which you obtained elsewhere?

If you're doing it for a quick ratio fix, then yes, it's not that helpful to seed torrents with a low amount of leechers.
Though every (new) user that comes across those torrents will get the content (partially) from you, so over a longer period of time (could be weeks) that would work.

I clicked on the  "adopt torrent" and saw all the torrents in baka bt with low seeders and downloaded those...
I really afraid of downloading more as download i dont have problem but upload its another story.. i think ill stay with the ones i already have and wait for a good ratio then.

Adopting a torrent does not mean you are getting a torrent with few seeds (though that seems to be a trend). It is also not the same as downloading a torrent that is up for adoption.

If you adopt a torrent, you become the owner of that torrent and you are responsible for making sure the torrent page on BBT is up to BBT standards.

read the Wiki about adopting torrents. It's a more advanced task that you shouldn't be doing until you've had more experience in the community.

By the way, you're gonna be warned after a week or two if you don't seed back. If you really did seed 1GB in just a day, though, you'll probably be okay if your download count doesn't go up too much.
