Anyone not heard of Dropbox?

Basically, for general usage it can be like tinypic or imageshack, but you can just keep the files on a folder on your computer and it automatically uploads it to the web, and you can right click pictures right on your computer and get a link to it so people can view or download it. More or less, it just makes sharing stuff a lot easier...

It can also sync your files across multiple computers and you can make specific folders that will sync between you and a friend (or multiple friends). Oh and it doesn't just work for pictures either, you can do any type of file.

I was actually in on the invite only beta, ages ago... But, it seems to have gotten a bit more popular now.

The advantage of signing up via my link as opposed to just signing up without it is that if you use my link we'll both get an extra 250MB of storage space (default free storage space you get is 2GB), so it's a pretty good deal. Besides, it couldn't hurt me to get some more storage space I figure...

Anywho, it's pretty neat. That video they have up on the referral sign up page is pretty lame... the one they had back in beta was a lot better. But yeah, if you didn't know about it... now you do.

I use dropbox to shortcut stuff for my iphone. It's great because I can save links, photos, pdfs, text etc from my mac with one button combination and sync it straight to my iphone. I don't tend to use it for uploading files for other reasons though as I already have a mobile me account for that. S'good though

I though the files were accessible through HTTP folders functionality, but they do in fact provide a client software that is embedded to OS shell. This is great for offline access.

May be they will embed check-in/out functionality in the feature as well.

Additional to personal use, I think it is great for a SME (small/medium sized enterprise) as it will allow sharing and storing of light-weight documents like customer presentations, draft proposals and other relevant project documentation. Most of the time these documents are shared via emails.

There are other corporate level online file storage services but this should do the trick.

I'm using it together with a couple of friends as we have started role playing and need somewhere to keep our documents so that everyone can access them. I like the system, but the security wise it feels creepy, so I don't know for how long I will continue to use it.

Creepy, how so? If you're sharing a private folder between you and your friends, only your accounts have access to it.

I use an Dropbox for all my school work and other documents so i can share between computers. Now if only i could wirelessly access the college printers i wouldn't have to use their shitty machines at all!

I have drop box but I don't use it very often. I can see how it can be useful, but yes, it feels as if there's something ominous about the security. Can't put my finger on it.

On the other had (derail) anyone ever looked at adrive? (add .com to that and that's the site I think). 50GB free online storage.

You could use a remote desktop program... There's all sorts.
