Well, that was just an example of how I'd ask that in spoken Swedish. "Avsnitt" is the appropriate word when talking about tv programs in general (using the word episod is awkward and almost swenglish). "Färdig" and "klar" are synonyms... I would how ever use the word "episod" when describing a situation when passage of time is impled or something happend during a period of time. For example "Jag hade en dyster episod i mitt liv".
ps. I know a little "suomenkieltä" too (100% Suomalainen, born and raised in Ruotsi)... ;)

Well, that was just an example of how I'd ask that in spoken Swedish. My opinion.
I think "Episod" is more suited for an anime serie, yes it's maybe "swenglish", but it's better that calling it "Avsnitt"...'cause i think Avsnitt is more used in ordinary "live shows" like Two and half men etc, non Cartoonish Serie.

If it all comes down to personal opinions, then yeah, both ways are right, but if we are looking into this in as a grammatical question then "Avsnitt" would be a more proper one. But let us take a peek what the word "episod" in swedish means literally:
- "relatively insignificant event; (excrescent) episode; a transient"
Sure, it still might sound right, yet... no. Then again, I think it falls back to how comfy you are to throw around with swenglish. With all the MMO-games, Facebook etc. (or simply read: Internet age generation) I think the Swedes are about to take another turn with a big punch of swenglish adopted words that most likely will in a few year have found its way into the SAOL (Svenska Akademins Ord Lista), as have so many other adopted foreign words in our past - as for example romani, french, german, latin.

Oh yes, alot of swedish people these days, most common, Teenagers
Adopt alot of words from other countries, Why?
Yes!, they sound better! or because it's just "Mainstream" to use those words, because of the internet.
This may be a problem but usally people stop using words like this when they get older.
As i said before, It's more common that Teenagers use it.

Aye - the youth of our days equally abuse, missuse and evelop the written language to something... else; if it be profound or shallow remains to be seen. So, keeping to the topic where I leapt in: "Are they both right?"
Following the conclusions being tossed I think we can narrow it down that it is both yes, and no; depending on who you ask, and how old that person is. Me being the "old" fart, in this matter, would probably (yes, probably - since I have gamed and hung around way to much on forums to not have had atleast some of all that language rub off on me) stick with: "När är det första avsnittet klart?"
While the youth of our day prolly would toss out with a jolly-good-toothed: "Så när fan är den första episoden färdig då?"
- the curse part being me picturing this question being aimed from the fed-up-rebelling-teenager to a broomstick-stiff-grown up. ;)
