Stealing and lying are two completely different things, yet they are both an act of dishonesty. Copying is not stealing, but I believe it is also an act of dishonesty.
Another reason why I think it is two different things when you download software and when you download music, is because those are two different type of jobs: programmers work on daily basis to make a software so they are doing their work. Musicians are doing their work when they tour and give us concerts, not when they sit on their ass and hope for record sales. Programmers may also be dishonest like for example all those that purchased Vista which was basically a beta version of Win7. My heart would not break in pieces if I pirate in that case. ;)
