Clearly he's on a crusade.

funny how I'm defending the iPhone considering my hatred for SJ.

Quote from: RIM
Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation.

RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage.

One thing is for certain, RIM's customers don't need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.

Quote from: Nokia
Antenna design is a complex subject and has been a core competence at Nokia for decades, across hundreds of phone models. Nokia was the pioneer in internal antennas; the Nokia 8810, launched in 1998, was the first commercial phone with this feature.

Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying human behavior, including how people hold their phones for calls, music playing, web browsing and so on. As you would expect from a company focused on connecting people, we prioritize antenna performance over physical design if they are ever in conflict.

In general, antenna performance of a mobile device/phone may be affected with a tight grip, depending on how the device is held. That's why Nokia designs our phones to ensure acceptable performance in all real life cases, for example when the phone is held in either hand. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying how people hold their phones and allows for this in designs, for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone and by careful selection of materials and their use in the mechanical design.

Quote from: Motorolla
It is disingenuous to suggest that all phones perform equally. In our own testing we have found that Droid X performs much better than iPhone 4 when held by consumers.

Yay for mass data regurgitation! Well done, you can use the copy and paste tools, but not give ANY information of your own!

Until I have some contact with an iPhone 4 myself I'm not gonna say that I like it or dislike it. Being able to read things online that other people have posted is not the same as using the device yourself. And the only thing anyone seems to have to say about is the antenna problem. Yes, it has a very fucking major flaw and I've had a good laugh at people who've gone straight out to buy it to find this problem, but it's not the first and it won't be the last item in production that's fucked up somewhere.

Basing your hatred on what other people think is pretty stupid tbh. As is linking websites without any backup as to why you are doing it. It makes for a very dry read and if I wanted to read random websites like that I'd have used google, at least it has a synopsis.

This iPhone fiasco is as bad as the Xbox in design flaws and you are defending the product because of "dry comments"?

When you have to deal with fatal design flaws when does it stop becoming a product and just a plain PR disaster.
Did you know Satan was supposedly gods RIGHT HAND MAN, not his left. Blows your theory out of the water now doesn't it.

Did you ignore that bit? I'm not defending it. But just like the RROD if its ALL thats shoved at you it gets a little tiresome. Especially if its just shoved at you by the means of links.

Difference is... when Microsoft had RROD, at first AFAIK Microsoft was silent and not screaming that it was the user's fault for playing too much video games. Unlike Apple which is blaming users for their (paraphrased) "Shitty method of using a phone".

Afterwards Microsoft admitted to the RROD flaw. Which Apple has not admitted to anything... yet.

What needed to be done was for Steve Jobs to show his stupid little presentation of the same fucked up way of holding a phone on the iPhone 3. (Don't recall seeing this done in his demonstration unless I missed it.) Because seriously. If an issue like this wasn't really an issue on the iPhone 3, why should it be one on the iPhone 4.

True, the best responses will be by those who actually have the iPhone 4, but I still don't believe Apple is dealing with this in the right way.

but he doesnt live in america. All the other countries get fisted by apple not assraped. If your stupid enough to pay 1000$ for a phone you just bent over and told apple to fist you with a watch 4 giant rings on and no lube at all.

Seriously i begrudgingly paid 200 for my evo and it is way nicer then the iphone4 i mean shit i can hold it and not lose signal

Lol, this is so true:

iPhone: "This changes everything"
iPad: "A magical and revolutionary product"

Now somebody tell me, what did they introduce that was so unique???

not much, they just made it pretty.
apple has for almost as long as I can think, been more about the looks and less about the functionality.
that said, I do have an iphone /shrug.

We can start by you telling us what's the touch screen smartphone scene like before the original iPhone.

there were several touch screen phones out well before the iphone. Apple IMO didnt innovate shit in the phone market. What they did is open the door to retards being willing to 80$ a month for a phone plan they dont need and helped the start the ball rolling for people using internet on their phones as well as the concept of a application database for the phone.

Apple didnt invent much of anything but with its popularity gained primarily via ipod the popularity of a piece of shit phone became massive. Which caused an explosion in the smart phone market for the average user.
