Usually how they do at E3 is the exact opposite of how they do for the next year.
If corn oil is made out of corn, than baby oil must be made out of...! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!

Maybe I missed something...

But what's with everyone saying "too much 3D from Sony"? (I've been reading it on other sites as well)

Did yall miss the last like half hour of the Nintendo one where they talked about the 3DS?

(Meh, maybe it's just because for the past year or so gaming's been dead to me and I was actually happy to see some titles that looked interesting, of which, most of Sony's presentation seemed to be.)

Basically, the entirety of Sonys conf delt with 3D, the thing is...what about people who dont think 3D matters yet, like me. Not everyone can afford a 3DTV.

+1 to that

3D is wayyy to pricey right now, like Solid state harddirves, give it a couple of years and they'll be reasonable
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.

Really?

They started with 3D.  Showed some Killzone for a while.  Then went onto the Move, then started talking about the PSP, then went to games.

Only like the first 1/2 hour (of a 2 hour show) of their show was about 3D.

Granted... The CEO is pretty boring to listen too, I'll give you that (hehe)

(Maybe I think Sony's was best because, As I've stated before here or elsewhere, can't remember...  MS's was complete rubbish... and I've never really been a fan of any of the Nintendo franchises, so their entire show didn't really appeal to me)

Konami's conference just ended. I found it hilarious. So many weird characters on stage, and such a dead audience. Made for many awkward moments. Their games were varied, but amongst two new Castlevania titles, a new MGS, Silent Hill... and Otomedius: Excellent they have quite a bit going for them. Sure, they had a bunch of novelty titles for the "new" motion technologies, and yet two other singstar reinventions. I really enjoyed the conference as a whole anyway.

Video may be up here later on.

tl;dr incoming on 3D

As for Sony spending a lot of time on 3D tech: The reason it's bad is that, as others said, 3D screens are expensive right now. I personally don't even think it will be a hit at all. The whole glasses issue is something for a [home] cinema, not for the regular TV/console room. It's something exclusively for rich, ronery enthusiasts the way I see it.

I'm not too happy about 3DS either, since it simply takes advantage of a tech already existing in anything that has a camera. While it might pull more developers into the 3D industry, I fear that it will be a completely useless gimmick for graphics rather than gameplay. I dare say now that only Nintendo, and a very small minority will develop games that truly exploit the possibilities of 3D. As for Sony's 3D solution, this gameplay opportunity will be impossible due to perspective (the games do not know where you are). They can't really afford to bet that many people have 3D screens either, so to sell games they'll need to work without 3D also. Though, at least they have the core graphics down to use 3D just as a graphical enhancer, in my humble opinion.

It's just that it's a useless gimmick that they spend way too much time and resources on.

Twisted Metal. That's all I have to say. Oh, Killzone 3 and Little Big Planet 2. I've only seen Sony's conference. I want to play Zelda and ... as for Miscrosoft... no. Just .. no.

I'm pretty disappointed in Sony, they didn't show Last Guardian.

It uses the same technology as this DSi "game" (well explained in this Wii presentation). Though, as far as I know, it's not officially announced that it uses head tracking. The "one internal and two external cameras" makes it sound that way, though.

Actually no it doesn't, you are just basing your opinion off of very old speculation from when the 3DS was announced.  While the 3DS can do some basic head tracking, that isn't how it implements its 3D capabilities.  It does it by basically doing the same thing as the glasses, except that the screen shows two different images to each eye rather than the glasses filtering two different images.

Wasn't that just speculation also? I saw an image of that, and it seems like an implausible way of doing it in my mind. Won't the images swap eyes with slight angle changes? And what's the internal camera for? Oo

On a related note: the new 3D glasses tech isn't like the old red/cyan ones. They use some spiraling glass, I think, and flicker images in a more advanced way than every other frame for each eye.

Well this might be something embarrassing from this year's E3 , apparently you can not play a game using Xbox Kinect while sitting.  :D

Quote
One developer with whom I spoke and who is familiar with how Microsoft is briefing studios making games for Kinect said the company has specifically advised developers to not make games that would involve the player's sitting down.

Imagine playing a game for 6 hours :)

[edit] you can control video and music tho

hmm, different images for each eye, I guess you would need some adjustable micro-optics on the display for that?

Geez Microsofts press conference was horrible T_T Everything felt so fake.

I really enjoyed Sonys this year though, as per usual - they brought alot of decent games (even sorcery looked good for a Move game) and of course Twisted freaking metal!!!

Nintendo Surprised me a bit as well, they did better than the last 2 years - showing alot of games people cared about. With a few embarrassments (golden eye looks horrible etc.) but the 3Ds is interesting...but the Wiis age is starting to show with its horrible graphic capability making it hard to take any Wii trailer seriously on stage.

The best part of e3 for me was the MvC3 gameplay videos....holy crap dose that game look awesome and Of course Twisted Metal/Portal 2(steam on Ps3 ftw)

Overall though there was a bit less 3d bullshit than I expected, and at least all the Sony games showed that were focused on 3d still looked good without the glasses and thats whats important.

read any recent (as in past couple days) article on how the 3DS works and that is what you will find.  And yes there are some problems with viewing it at weird angles or at a distance.  Basically there is a 'sweet spot' that you have to play it in, but until they make a screen that adjusts itself based on the distance/angle we have to deal with it (or with glasses).  And the "internal camera" is so you can see yourself while you take a picture.  Also it is used a bit in Nintendogs + Cats.

I have heard of some using the flicker thing, though that seems pretty inefficient and nauseating if it isn't going at a fast enough fps (also requires the glasses to be in sync with the tv).  Most modern glasses do pretty much the same as the red/blue glasses except instead of showing two different colors and filtering those, they basically filter out two different "angles" of light.

I remember playing Twisted Metal 2 for hours and hours and even pulling nighters on it with my cousin and friends. We'd always pick Minion, Sweet Tooth, Warhog, Axel and Mr. Slam. Ah, memories.

I hope Minion makes it back in the game.

Nintendo dominated this E3 imo...

Tho I find it weird that Square hasn't said anything about FFVersus......
I want to play it -_-
Why promoting 14 when u still have to release XIII-Versus >_>
