Gankutsuou and Ladd Russo are often mentioned as well.

Surprised noone mentioned Light or Lelouch yet.

Black lagoon has some awesome ones... That Taiwanese assassin... HAH! That's some good watching right there.
Remember the bone guy in Naruto? Just before the fillers? (Or maybe it was a filler) and Zabusa/Haku.

Too lazy for pix atm.

I will mention another one of my favourites:
(click to show/hide)
Buggy the Clown from One Piece. ( I consider everyone who fight/fought Luffy and his crew as villians)
isn't he hilarious?

Does Light Yagami count as a villain?  If so, him.

Two thumbs and two toes up  :D. In any case that would be a villain I like.

But the truly best villains are those so good at being evil that I can't help myself from hating them. Therefore:
Johan Liebert

the World Nobles / Celestial Dragons / Tenryuubito from One Piece

Apos from Mnemosyne

P.S.: Does hentai count? ::)

I don't consider Light or Lelouch villains. They're the heroes of their respective shows.

When life gives you lemons, you clone those lemons and make super lemons.

Light is an antihero. That makes him both the protagonist and the villain. Can't say the same for Lelouch, though.

I wouldn't say Lelouch is a villain, he sort of redeemed himself by the end.

Light was evil, though.  He's a villain.  He killed like what, hundreds of thousands of innocents?

Death Note was a story from the point of view of the bad guy.

A protagonist cannot be a villain in the narrative sense.  A villain is always an antagonist.

Hell, even if Light had been the antagonist, he'd still be an antihero, not a villain.

That's nonsense. Sounds like an arbitrary explanation. You can argue if Light was a villain at all in the first place (good villains are often ambivalent in the sense that you can understand them, often because they are well-portrayed), but it has nothing to do with whose view the story is told from. They often coincidice, but are by no means an absolute critera. Many enough books prove this.
