I wouldn't call Lelouch a vilan, a anti-hero, but not a vilain...

Papillon from buso renkin has to be the bad ass'sezt villan out there, hands down

edit:

LOL, you know... when i saw the topic about favorite all time villain, papillon was the face that immediately popped into my head, I was actually surprised that I was not alone in that opinion. If I had to choose a second favourite I'd have to say.... Sesshoumaru, Inu'Yasha's older brother from the anime Inu'Yasha. He prodds buttocks :)

he made himself the villain in the end to

While that makes Lelouch a villain in the eyes of the populace that doesn't make him a villain in the story. He is a true antihero, unlike Light Yagami (just because you kill convicted criminals and call it 'justice' does not automatically make you an antihero!). Code Geass is one of those series that really has no true main villains (since everyone is fighting for their own perfect world).

Oolong and Daimao Piccolo from Dragon Ball
Oolong (near the beginning) because he's hilarious and Piccolo because his mouth is his vagina. (You'll only understand if you watch it)

I have two that automatically spring to mind: Johan Liebert from Monster, and Ladd Russo from Baccano!
Total and complete opposites too. Johan is the chilling epitome of evil disguised as an angel, and Ladd Russo just loves his job. Maybe it is because I am just finishing Baccano, but he is just cracking me up.

I wouldn't call Lelouch a vilan, a anti-hero, but not a vilain...

The primary distinction I'd make between an anti-hero and a villain is that the anti-hero pursues a noble goal through unheroic and socially unacceptable means while a villain pursues an ignoble and usually selfish goal. For the majority of the series, Lelouch plays the role of a villain because he uses people to satisfy his own revenge. He becomes and anti-hero in the latter portion of S2 when his motivations change from fulfilling his personal vendetta to destroying Britannia by uniting the world against himself.

Re-watching FMP has reminded me how great of a villain Gauron is. He isn't a terribly deep as a character; however, his design just reeks bad-ass-villainy from every pour. I also appreciated that, unlike the villains in many mecha shows, he doesn't spout a whole lot of philosophical crap in order to justify himself. He simply revels in his evil.

Griffith is one of the best.  Light was pretty good too, especially since he was also the protagonist.

The difference between villains and anti-heroes is quite simple: evil vs good.  An anti-hero may be hard to like sometimes, but you can't deny the merit of their actions and goals, while a villain may sometimes make you wish they'd just be good, but inevitably their actions are unforgivable.  Lelouche wasn't a villain; he could be arrogant, but his objectives were noble and he always held true to them.  Light Yagami was a smart, bored, egomaniac that got too powerful, nothing heroic about him.  Sure, he killed bad guys, but he was never really heroic when doing so, and he killed innocents just as easily and not for a greater purpose, but just to save himself.
