Fraps & Sony Vegas Pro
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:47:35 PM »
Set up fraps and recorded some WoW videos. I was recommended Sony Vegas Pro and I got it and messed around with it yesterday. Pretty cool program and all. The problem comes with "Render As...", when I do that I get lost in there. I'm trying to have it render as 1600 x 900 which I got it perfectly. But the video is either too big or doesn't show picture, only sound. When I encode it down to 700x480 or whatever it does it perfectly and very low size but extremely shitty graphics. You guys seen how nice the videos are done on YouTube? I want a 720p or 1080p. Swifty (crazy pvp warrior) also recommended Sony Vegas Pro (youtube him).

I only seen 'avi' to render as in this program. I'd rather have mkv.

I have no idea if this will help but this tutorial seems helpful

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AZuwL1fIwc

Do keep in mind I have no idea if this will help or not, I've never used it personally.

I am also a Swifty fan so... had to do something and I really wish he would make a video on how he does things... he probably gets so many requests though.
The question is have we already reached the limit of perfection?

judging from the fact that the guy in the tutorial doesn't even know what a AVC mp4 file is and proposes to use either MPEG1 or wmv9, i doubt you'll get a proper solution for your problem there.

My question is this, after capturing your video with fraps, did you try encoding it with MeGUI or go 1337 with x264 CLI?

And what's so pro about the "render as" option anyway?
There's a freakin' mp4(AVC) option right above mpg1, the guy probably didn't even bother to do a bit of research, and real media, boy who doesn't know what it is,

Forget it, I'm not gonna waste my time criticizing the video.

I did render as and saved it with AVC/AAC as .mp4. Works like a charm now with a low size file. Thanks!

well before anything u need i recommend u use 1280 x 720 first highlight everything the go to render choose main concept AVC/AAC(*.mp4) as hit custom for project quality best the go to video tab switch the size to custom make it 1280 x 720 then select profile and choose hit profile main and chose upper first the make check constant bit rate and make it 8,000,000 then save it it shud render right if not try running in admin if on vista or 7 or re install right
